ANNA HNATIUK July 10, 1923 - May 14, 2013 Peacefully, on Tuesday, May 14 2013, Anna Hnatiuk passed away after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's. Anna was born and raised in the village of Bobiatyn, in the Sokal region of western Ukraine. After surviving many harrowing experiences as a refugee during the Second World War, Anna studied economics in Munich before emigrating to Canada in 1948. In 1950 she was re-united with the love of her life, George. They married later that year and moved to Winnipeg to start a new life and raise a family. In addition to her wonderful sense of humour, one could always count on Anna for sound advice or a witty proverb. She will be remembered as a thoughtful, compassionate woman who loved gardening, sewing, and above all, going for long walks. Left to cherish Anna's memory are her husband George, sons Roman (Judy) and Oleh, and granddaughter Eaden. In accordance with Anna's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph's Residence for their support and compassion during Anna's difficult years.
