Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL WAYNE KUBARA Suddenly at age 65 years, Michael of Winnipeg passed on while working for the summer at Totem Fishing Lodge at Nestor Falls, Sioux Narrows, Ontario on Friday, May 24, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents Mary and Michael Kubara Sr. and his sister Judy Szun. Left to mourn for him are his children, daughter Lisa with grandson Joshua of Lockport MB and his son Michael Kubara 4th; his younger brothers Donald and Richard (Brenda) with Janelle and Adam, nephew Paul (Tina) Szun with Nicholas and Mathew, girlfriend Judy, former wife Angela Danko, numerous relatives and many long time loyal friends. Mike was raised in North End Winnipeg and attended Lord Nelson, Andrew Mynarsky and Sisler High. He played many sports in school, at Boyd Park, then coaching and managing with Nevs Knight's and West Kildonan North Stars Hockey. He worked in sales at Eaton's downtown and later owned many arcades and restaurants. He loved fishing and always jumped at a chance to go out to the lakes with family and friends. He was also one of the best Poker Players in Manitoba, winning many tournaments and prizes over the years. Mike was a talented accordion player, entertaining crowds of people with his Ukrainian Polkas late into the nights by our family campsite fire at Nutimik Lake next to the creek bridge, back in the 60s. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed for his love of chatting regularly with his friends at Sals on Leila, helping people with problems or his ability to help find something that he thought you might need from Kayes Auction House. Prayers will be on Sunday, June 2 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, June 3 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 965 Boyd Ave. Father Volodymyr Bashutskyy officiating with Church Servants Janelle Kubara, Adam Kubara and Nicholas Szun. I am so saddened by the loss of Mike. I have known Mike and Judy for some 20 years. Him an Judy were like family to me and my family. They attended many xmas's and Easter dinners at my home and my brother Dennis Henry's home. Mike was full of life stories, jokes, new ideas he was working on. Mike had a kind heart. Him an Judy were a great couple. My heart goes out to Judy as I know how close they were and how much she loved and cared for Mike. RIP fear friend. - Posted by: Donna Olender (Good Friend) on: Jun 08, 2013

Mr. Mike was very well know at the freeroll poker tournaments around the city where he would have his regular seat. Having played in the league for about 7 plus years "Mr Mike" had become the leagues point leader on several occasions and proved to be very competitive night in and night out. "Mr Mike" was friends with most players and an educator to others. He will be sadly missed by the entire league. On behalf of the entire Canadian Pub Poker League we would like to extend our condolences to his family and friends. - Posted by: Canadian Pub Poker League (Friends) on: May 29, 2013
