A true gentleman who always put patients first. After I lost my husband to myeloid aplastic syndrome, he said if you ever need me just call to my office and I'm here to talk. Two years later I did as my daughter was ill, he diagnosed her and gave the best care ever. This world has lost a great great man, we will never forget you Ade xxx - Posted by: mrs f dunn and family (Patients wife and mother) on: Feb 25, 2014

Saddened to learn of Ade's passing. I've only just heard. I was privileged to work in the lab when he was at Aintree. Always had time for everyone, patients and staff alike, totally committed to his patients and helped and supported me personally. We lost touch but I often thought of the man who gave so much to haematology and sickle cell disease in particular. It's no surprise to see the love and respect in the tributes already posted. Rest in peace Ade. - Posted by: David Nixon (ex colleague and friend- Aintree) on: Jun 22, 2013

Four years ago was like yesterday when somebody introduced you to me for professional comment/report on Sickle cell with regards to my predicaments on how to get my documents regularised in the UK, so that my son, Charming, could remain in the UK to continue his proper medical attention and care that he would scarcely get if we were deported to Nigeria. I can`t appreciate you enough for the professional passion with which you handled my case, which added value to my prayers to the UK government, consequent upon which my request was magnanimously granted late last year. My regret is not about your death, for I know you are definitely going to be with God, but that I didn`t have the opportunity to say a BIG THANKS to you after I eventually got my stay owing to loss of contact with you since you had relocated to USA. Nevertheless, because I know you are not dead, I believe you can still accept my appreciation where you are before the Almighty God. Thank you very much sir. My condolences to all who are yours. Adieu. - Posted by: CHARMING`S MUM (ESTHER) (Friend) on: Jun 04, 2013

I met Adebayo sometime in 1991 through my brother (later, his best man) and they were like brothers! He was full of humor, very intelligent, very respectful and charming. My family kind of adopted him like a brother! Bayo was like a drug, you met him once and you are hooked! His life was simple and his family and work were his passion. It's still unbelievable that a man full of life and a whole lot to look forward to could pass on like this. Bayo, The Lord shall comfort us all, we shall all remember your smile and gentle nature always and we shall be encouraged. Good night, beloved brother, father and friend. - Posted by: Yetunde Ladega (Friend) on: Jun 03, 2013

We at the UK Sickle Cell Society are deeply saddened at the passing of Dr Ade one of our Medical Advisors and a colleague. A kind man and great supporter, who not only willingly agreed to chair the working group that developed standards for the clinical care of adults with sickle cell in the UK but also with his daughter did his bit to raise funds and support us as a Jeans for Genes guest charity in 2007. May his soul rest in perfect peace. - Posted by: Ms Iyamide Thomas (Staff member at Sickle Cell Society where Dr Ade was a Medical Advisor) on: May 31, 2013

Dr Ade (as he told us to call him - because everyone had a hard time saying his name) was the most kind, gentle, caring person. He hadn't been with HSC a long time but made such a positive impression with everyone (we noticed this especially with patients who called for him)and that is so very important with those suffering with cancer. We all in paging will truly miss the voice of this wonderful, wonderful man! God Bless you Dr Ade and our sincere condolences to your family --- you definitely left before your time! We feel deeply honored to have been cared for by Dr. Ade. He was always kind and caring. He helped us feel at ease, joking with us and treating us as people, not simply patients. We have lost not just an exceptional professional, but an extraordinary person. He was inspiring to be around. We are more - better - for having had him touch our lives. Blessings on you, Dr. Ade. We will miss you greatly. - Posted by: Garry Kuhn (patient of Dr. Ade) and Corinne Plett (daughter of Garry) () on: May 30, 2013

I was referred to Dr. Ade after being diagnosed with myeloma in March 2013. Dr. Ade was the epitome of grace and comfort. He understood my fears but he gave me hope and shared his knowledge of faith and optimism. He focused on the positives and the inner strengths of the individual and at the end of the day I was pleased that I had met a caring and thoughtful individual. In spite of the challenges that I may encounter in life, I am glad that I had met him. His grace, ease, commitment and above all his sensitivity has reaffirmed and laid the foundation for me to be positive and hopeful in the journey of life. My family and I extend our condolences and prayers to his family, colleagues and patients. A caring and wonderful individual. - Posted by: Ernesta Rivais (Patient) on: May 30, 2013

Like so many I was shocked and saddened by the news of Ade's sudden passing. He was an inspiration to anyone working in health care. His passion and compassion went hand in hand; and what debonair and charm! Ade's presence will remain in each and every one of us who had the privilege of knowing him. I am grateful for the time we worked together even though it was very brief. Ade, we will pass on the torch and keep the flame burning. With God’s grace your work will continue. We were shocked and saddened to hear of Dr. Ade's sudden untimely passing. He was truly a great man with a kind and gentle spirit, loved by his patients and their families, but obviously loved and respected by his coworkers and colleagues too. Our sympathy and prayers go to his family and the people he worked so closely with everyday. As his patient, I will miss his intelligence and expertise, but also his humor and optimisim. Dr Ade Was a great man of science who began a quest to improve the quality of care and improve treatment of multiple myeloma cancer patients. His research and dedication has made home care treatment for cancer patients a reality. Thanks to this man I have been gifted with a life beyond the hospital I otherwise could not due to the need for ongoing treatment. His passing is a great loss to the scientific community and patients around the world. An inspiration to those he touched with his admirable presence. He is dearly missed. - Posted by: Collin Bryce Theo Kennedy (Patient and case study) on: May 30, 2013

"Bayus" as fondly called, was a quiet and easy going chap. He was a senior in High School. Though I've not seen him in a pretty long time until I learnt of his passing away, I remembered the period he gained admission to University of Ibadan as a medical student. We met few times and he was as gentle, quiet and loving as ever. Always in warmth smiles. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Adieu Bayus! We are so saddened to hear of so young a man with such expertise and kindness. I did not know Dr Ade personally but feel as though I know him as my sister, Sharon Moncek, spoke of his kind manner, skill, and openness to a patient's questions and requests. Dr Ade was not just an incredible doctor, he was an incredible MAN. He was the most caring, genuine, "plugged in" doctor we have ever met. He loved, fought so hard for & took care of his patients as if they were his family. He would tell us/mom we were not just patients to him :) Losing him will be a HUGE LOSS to our "MM family"/community & to his incredible team, (who we know), he respected, cared about & was so proud of. Our prayers are with his family, friends, team & all those who had him, (although too short of a time), as a GIFT & BLESSING, in their lives. God has this special man now. Rest in peace Dr Ade!
