JAMES ALBERT (BERT) WARBURTON Peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2013 at the Lions Prairie Manor, Bert Warburton of Poplar Point, MB, widower of the late Martha Warburton passed away at the age of 97 years. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Monday, July 8, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Robert Humble officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Poplar Point Cemetery. Bert was born on April 12, 1916, son of Doris and Albert Warburton in the RM of Rockwood, MB. He received his education in the Stonewall, Grosse Isle Districts. In 1942 the family moved to north of Poplar Point where they purchased a farm. He actively farmed here until 1999 when Martha became ill, and he resided on this farm until April of 2013 when health forced him to move to the Lions Prairie Manor. Farming and raising cattle was his passion. He enjoyed watching curling on TV, and in his younger days he enjoyed curling. He was a member of the Manitoba Pool Elevators, and sat on several United Church Boards. Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Doris, his wife Martha, four brothers Jack, Eric, Edward, Art and sister Nellie in infancy, he leaves to mourn his passing his son; Jim (Barbara) of Poplar Point, their son Leonard, and his sons Gavin and Connor, his daughter: Betty (Les) Kelly of Poplar Point, MB, their sons, Gene and his children Alyssa, Briana, Brenda, and Wayne (Cynthia) and their children Renna and Sean. Also surviving are two sisters; Evelyn and Marjorie and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
