DANIEL SHTYKALO It is with great sadness we announce that our father Daniel (Eddie) Shtykalo of Dauphin passed away on Tuesday, May 28 at the age of 70. Dad was born in Ste. Rose, MB on October 13, 1942 to John and Barbara (Sklar) Stykalo. He grew up in Weiden, MB on the family farm with brothers Harry, Russ, Mike, and sister Mary. After graduating from high school in Yorkton, Dad received his teaching certificate and then began his career student teaching in Rorketon, MB. He then moved on to Thompson in 1965. His teaching career took him to Pilot Mound, McCreary, and Elphinstone. He started his work as principal while in Elphinstone, then moved to Rossburn and finally to Dauphin. He retired from teaching in 1997. He went on to work as a counsellor at Willard Monson House and then with AFM. Dad stayed involved with the Dauphin Area Retired Teacher's Association after retirement and most recently acted as secretary. Throughout his career as an educator, Dad also spent many years working as a volunteer EMT. In his spare time, Dad enjoyed the outdoors doing activities like camping, biking, walking, gardening, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, curling and playing the odd round of golf. Dad loved the arts as well, he participated in a few productions by Theatre Amisk and music was a big part of his life. As kids, we were always impressed by his amazing talent of picking up any instrument and after a few moments, being able to play a tune. Dad was also extremely handy around the house, he was always busy fixing and building things. Dad is survived by his wife Eileen; son Tyson (Chontaille) Shtykalo; daughter Tanya (Kerry) Stokotelny; daughter Deana (Ryan) Abstreiter; son Devin (Angela) Shtykalo; his children's mother Sandra Sloane; stepson Steve (Marilyn) Sloboda; stepson Jeff Sloboda; grandchildren Bethany, Avery, Jacob, Hayden, Sarah, Andreas, Kellan, Jarred, Brooke; mother-in-law Jean Kruchek; brother Mike (Lil) Stykalo; sister-in-law Jennie Stykalo and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service took place at St. Viator's Catholic Church in Dauphin on Friday, May 31 at 10:00 a.m. with interment at Riverside Cemetery. Eulogy was presented by Tere Stykalo and pallbearers were Dennis Stykalo, Larry Stykalo, John Stykalo, Kerry Stokotelny, Ryan Abstreiter and Terron Stykalo. Donations in Dad's name can be made to Parkland Humane Society and CancerCare Manitoba. The family would like to thank everyone for their support and assistance. Bye for Now
