BORYS ZAJDENBEUTEL June 26, 1945 May 20, 2013 Our beloved husband and friend, Borys Zajdenbeutel, passed away on May 20, 2013. He will be dearly missed by his wife Jola, his children-in-law Joanna and Julien, his friends Leszek, Romana, Jola and Krystyna, his nephews Ken and David as well as Kamila, Taylor and Kira and his brother-in-law Okey. His life was a journey through the world. Born in the Soviet Union, he moved with his parents to Poland after the Second World War, to settle down in Swidnica, where he went to high school and had numerous friends, many of them Jewish. Many of them were later forced by the Polish state to leave the country. Borys was among those who had to emigrate and yet he managed to keep in touch with a great number of his friends, even though the destinations they have chosen were very different. Borys went to Hadera, in Israel, a country that always remained essential for him: this is where his daughter Eva was born. Then, Canada became his new home 39 years ago. He lived in Winnipeg, and was a highly respected long time employee of the Canadian Pacific Railway. He was passionate about handmade jewelry, and created a number of beautiful and unique pieces. In 2010, he organized with his wife and friends a rally of emigrants of Jewish origins in Swidnica, a milestone event for him and for the local community. For the last eight years, Poland and Warsaw became, once again, of crucial importance for him. This is where he met his wife, and his life was since then divided between the two countries. To his new family, he brought an infinite amount of love and kindheartedness, which is simply impossible to replace. He was an admirable and good person, he loved people, his family and friends, and at the same time he enjoyed joking around and he had a great sense of humour. His huge heart was open to everyone, and yet this heart was alas very sick; it took away our cherished husband, father-in-law and friend. A funeral service will be held, accordingly to Borys' will, in Poland. He will be buried in Strzegom, next to his son. A funeral ceremony in Canada for family and friends will take place on June 1, 2013, 9:30 a.m. at the Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc Street, Winnipeg. Those who wish to honour Borys' memory are invited to make donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
