Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIA CONCEICAO SILVA GONCALO It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria C. Silva Goncalo, at the age of 84, on Saturday, June 1, 2013. She was predeceased by her parents Filipe Borges and Maria Conceicao Borges, her husband Antonio, her daughter Olga, her sisters Aida (Manuel Gaspar) Pereira, Mariana Borges, and brothers Filipe and Jose Borges. Maria is survived by her son Manuel, his wife Maria Lurdes and precious grandchildren Carla and Garrett, her sisters Nelia (Jose) Cabral, Belmira (Fernando) Pavao, Matilde (Anselmo) Sousa and Ascencao (Jose) Estacio, brothers Manuel (Rosa) Borges, Francisco (Julia) Borges and Antonio (Mariana) Borges, and many nieces and nephews. Maria was born on October 4, 1928 on the island of Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal. She was the eldest of 12 siblings. Maria worked for many years as a seamstress. Upon retiring she spent a lot of time with family and friends. Maria was sociable and outgoing and could frequently be seen shopping and having breakfast with friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital for their caring and attention towards Maria and her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maria's memory to the Grace Hospital Foundation. Prayers will be held on Thursday, June 6 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 7 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin Street N. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. 204-586-8044
