I was so sorry to read that Mrs. Hodgson passed away. I happened to read the obituary in the Chronicle Journal in Thunder Bay while I was visiting my mother. Barbara (Barbie) was a friend when we were kids and I sometimes visited her family home. On one visit, Mrs. Hodgson offered us a snack of some home made antipasto. It was delicious. I've tasted others since but hers was the best. May she rest in peace. My deepest condolences to Barbara and her family. - Posted by: Eileen Sturby () on: Jun 23, 2013

Growing up in Thunder Bay (actually Fort William) was a wonderful experience. Most of the great memories for me were because our extended family lived close by. When I was very young we lived with my grandparents then moved to the "house on the lane" which was right behind their house. One street over from my grandparents lived my aunt Bebe and uncle Willie. I had a special route to get to their back door, however, it meant cutting through neighbours yards, but in those days it was welcomed (you just had to wave hello as you ran through). Their home was very welcoming and Bebe always had a cold drink and a treat waiting. At night my cousins Barbie and Billie (we called them that at that time), my sisters and neighbourhood friends would play hide-and-go seek until after dark while our family would sit on the front steps. It certainly was a different era! When I got older I used to go to bingo with Bebe, my aunt Flora, my grandmother and my mom. You can see that it was a family event. Bebe used to walk so fast that I could hardly keep up to her. Bebe was always laughing (usually because she was being teased by my uncle Willie). You can see that she was a beautiful woman when you view both of the tribute photos. I always waited to see what all these ladies would wear because I loved the fashion of the day. It was very classy. Many a card game took place at their home with Bebe always supplying great food. I think Barb takes after her this way. The last memory of Bebe that I have was having lunch with her at the nursing home where she lived her last days and where she seemed quite comfortable. She was very gracious that day while having lunch with my mom, Bill and Judy and myself. She will be sorely missed. Thanks for the memories Bebe.
