Ken is predeceased by his parents, Doug and Claire, both in 2012, and father-in-law, Peter Enns in 2010. Left to grieve are his wife Rosemary, and son Cameron; sister Carol Braun (Dar); brother Rod McDowell (Kathy); mother-in-law Anne Enns; sister-in-law Elma Carson (Richard); brother-in-law Ron Enns (Joan); nieces and nephews: Brett McDowell, Kristine Braun (Chris), Nikki McDowell (Scott), Kim Braun, Julie Carson (Cam), Stacy Carson (Dave), Cory Enns (Deanne), Chad Enns, and great-nieces Zola and Sadie. Ken grew up in St. Vital and attended Dakota Collegiate. Ken studied computer science at the University of Manitoba and spent his entire career in the IT industry. For the last 12 years, he worked at Sierra Systems, where he was a Project Manager as well as Principal in the company. Ken loved to spend time with his family and many friends, especially at his cottage on Lake of the Woods. Ken started to build the family cottage in 1979, and the "lake" and boating soon became his passions. We would like to thank all the staff in the IICU at the Health Sciences Centre for their care and support over these last months. Ken will be dearly missed by his family, many friends and colleagues. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the ALS Society, 493 Madison Street, Winnipeg, MB R3J 1J2. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Thomson "In The Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R3T 5Y4. Ken was my Career Advisor at Sierra Systems for a number of years. He was a hard-working man of honesty and integrity. We had many enjoyable sushi lunches together. Rosemary, I am sorry you did not have the years of retirement together that you both deserved. - Posted by: Gillian Brennan (former co-worker) on: Jun 09, 2013

Dear Rose and Cameron, you have been in our thoughts and prayers the last few months. Julie has kept us informed. I'm glad you have such a great family and group of friends to help you through this very difficult time. Peace be with you and we'll probably see you later in June. - Posted by: Wilf and Val Chiasson (friends of the family) on: Jun 06, 2013

Many good times were shared at the lake. Gone but never to be forgotten. Those early mornings of quiet at the cabin sharing a coffee when Ken was up early with Cameron as a newborn will always be special. His pride for Cameron was overflowing. - Posted by: Ralph Schnell (friend) on: Jun 06, 2013

I had the privilege of working with Ken at Sierra in Winnipeg a few years ago. He was a solid man of character respected by all who knew him. Ken was a hard working problem solver with a dry sense of humour. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Dan Thomson (Colleague) on: Jun 05, 2013

Ken was one of the finest people I ever met. We grew up together in the Greendell area, went to Dakota collegiate and carpooled to the U of M. I send my sincerest condolences to Rosemary and all others who are grieving the loss of a true gentle man. John Melnick - Posted by: John Melnick (Friend ) on: Jun 05, 2013

We will miss Ken so much. We had 38 years of friendship....wonderful dinners together, great visits every summer at the lake, hosting Ken and Rose for a 2 week vacation when we lived in Singapore and a super Mediterrean cruise in 2011 to celebrate 35 years of marriage....so many good memories will keep him alive in our hearts. - Posted by: Maretta and Doug Emery (Friends) on: Jun 05, 2013
