Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHOWARD BERTRAM DEBOLT It is with great love and heavy hearts that our family says goodbye to Howard Bertram DeBolt. He died peacefully on June 2, 2013 at Victoria Hospital just shy of his 87th birthday. Howie was born on July 27, 1926 on a farm in Big Beaver, Saskatchewan and grew up with 12 siblings. Howie joined the navy in 1943 and spent two years in the services aboard a mine sweeper as a signalman. Following the war, he settled in Winnipeg and met Noreen Mary Anderson. Howie and Noreen were married September 22, 1951. During their 41 years of marriage they had two children, Clay and Debbie. They spent many happy times together especially enjoying their cottage life and close friends in Lakeshore Heights. Following Noreen's passing, Howie met Louise Balcaen in Mesa the following winter. They married and enjoyed an active and companionable retirement together for 17 years, wintering among a close community of friends in Mesa, Arizona and later wintered in British Columbia. Howie had a gentle and generous spirit. Over the course of his life he made many good and loyal friends. Howie was known to all as Mr. Fix It'. He had an uncanny ability to build or repair anything. Left to cherish his memory are his children Clay (Diane) and Debbie (Barry), his beloved granddaughter Leanne, and his two stepdaughters Sue and Nancy. Howie was predeceased by his wife Noreen, his wonderful grandson Kyle, his wife Louise, and all of his siblings. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Munsamy and Dr. Cavers and the caring staff at Victoria Hospital for the compassionate and caring manner they displayed when caring for our father, grandfather and friend. A simple service and reception will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Saturday, June 8 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
