Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARION ELEANOR SILVERMAN November 29, 1925- May 1, 2013 Marion loved flowers. Love was one of her defining qualities -deep and abiding love for her family, for music, for words, and for Yiddishkeit. Mom was a "force of nature". If she didn't think something was right or fair, she called it. It didn't matter if it were a mega - corporation or a corner store, she took on all comers, and she usually won! Talent? This lady's fingers flew on the typewriter keys. Her short hand was divine: top of her class at William Whyte School. Marion was proud to be a secretary at Great West Life. She adored her work, her work mates and her bosses. She had the best collection of high heels in Winnipeg. She worked hard for three decades and yet, somehow Marion and our dad Benny, always found the time to play. They were known for their mind blowing dance steps in the "Jitterbug " and surely would have won top place on "So You Think You Can Dance". They were bowling champions, and avid members of the Brandeis Lodge for many years, where they did charitable deeds from helping to build kindergartens in far away places, to writing letters for those who could not themselves. Marion was the baby of her family. She was "Meitsi" to her brothers Abe, Morris and Jack Silverberg. Our grandmother Bobee, passed down all her trade secrets from the recipe for chicken soup and gefilte fish to how to endure hardships. Marion loved Rachel, her wonderful granddaughter and being a "Bobee" herself. We would find them giggling while having ice cream parties or making up stories. She was passionate about mah-jong, bridge and cryptograms and always got the answer before the contestants on Jeopardy. In later years, she took up golf with her special friend, Harry Fishman. She loved her children Linda, Leslee and son-in-law Brian fiercely, and took great pride in their accomplishments. Marion was the continuity and the glue of the extended family. She was helped in life and will be missed by her nephews and niece: Norman, Bill, Don, Len, Mark Silverberg, Ronnie Birinboim and their families. She shared a special bond with Benny's loving family in Detroit -Allan, Mary, Bruce, Eileen, Laurie and all our cousins there and here on my dad's side Bev, Beverly, Sharon, Brian, Lorraine, Percy and their families. Huge thank-you to the truly amazing and lovely staff at the Sherbrooke and Health Science Centre Dialysis Units, and to Mom's longtime kind and caring doctors, Dr. Singer and Dr. Bernstein. Many thanks to the extraordinary staff at Shaftesbury Park and especially, to Mom's wonderful lifetime friends Roz, Renee, and Rose. Expressions of sympathy may be made to The Jewish Foundation or any organization that promotes the welfare of the young. May her soul be bound up in all that is eternal.

Keith and I were sad to learn of your mother's passing from Cathy last Wednesday evening while we were ushering at The Warehouse. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family at this very sad and difficult time. There will be tears in the days and weeks to come, but hopefully smiles and laughter as you recall those happy memories made with your mother.
