Predeceased by husband of 51 years, Andrew Dul (married in 1951); mother Maria; brothers Feliks and Aleksander (Hamilton, ON) Waçek (Rome, Italy); sister Janina (Wroclaw, Poland). As a child she witnessed the loss of her father Adolf, sisters Helena, Valerie, brothers Henry, Sebastian, her home, and the chance of a happy childhood in her native Poland brought by the Nazi terror of the Second World War and Soviet occupation. Despite hardships, Sophie built a productive life immigrating to Canada in 1949 to join her brother Feliks and mother Maria in Hamilton, ON before travelling west to work at the Ninette Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Manitoba, then settling in Winnipeg to work, marry and start a family. With every busy task, she took pride in being independent, resourceful and frugal, teaching us the beauty in the simple pleasures of daily life, whether fresh linens and flowers on the table, or friends dropping by for tea and company. Service was held at Holy Ghost Church on Saturday, June 8. Honorary pallbearers, grandson Julian Chan (Kamloops), nephews Walter Wysocki (Rome, Italy), John Wysocki (Hamilton) and William Wysocki (Toronto) were with us in spirit, as nephews Feliks and Richard Wysocki; grandsons Andrew and Michael Buffi, son-in-law Fred Buffi and son Peter Dul assisted with interment at Holy Ghost Cemetery. My mother Doris always had happy memories of her friendship with Mrs. Dul. - Posted by: Terry Smith (Friend) on: Nov 21, 2013

Many years ago Mrs. Dul had compassion for a friend of her daughter's, a "latch key kid" whose parents both worked full time and who spent all her summer holidays alone. She allowed me access to her home, gave me lunch with her girls as if I was part of her family. It made my life much less lonely. I have never forgotten. - Posted by: Christine Kalk (One who remembers with gratitude) on: Sep 09, 2013

I will always remember my God Mother, Mrs. Dul, as being very kind, warm, loving and extremely interesting. I never tired of her stories and teachings. She was also a very good cook and spoiled me many times with fabulous meals!! Forever in my memories and heart. Rest in peace sweet Sophia. - Posted by: Barbara Morris (God Child) on: Jun 20, 2013
