NOEL (DUANE) MAYO-BROWN On June 10, 2013 with his daughters by his side and surrounded by love, Noel passed away peacefully at River East Personal Care Home. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Rosalie (Terry) whom he lost to cancer in 2004; it broke his heart; they had been by each other's side for over 47 years. He was also predeceased by his father Noel, his mother Marjorie and his brother Clare. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Cindy Pubben (Dwayne) Dayna Comeau Brown (Claude Comeau) grandchildren Tricia and Spencer, sister Maureen Therrien-McKinnon (Terry), nieces Joan Day, Dianne Fotty, nephews Lyle Brown, Randy and Mark Therrien, many cousins and other family and friends. Noel was born April 18, 1934 in Winnipeg. In his early years, he was an accomplished hockey player and was scouted by the Toronto Maple Leafs when he was sixteen. On the advice of his parents he decided to remain home with the family and unfortunately was unable to realize his dream of playing professional hockey. He then went on to work for 44 years at CN in a job he loved. As Chief Clerk for the Carload Centre, Symington Yard, he treasured the friends he made and the breakfasts with the boys after retirement. In 1956 Noel married the love of his life, Rosalie. They raised two daughters, Noel took great pride in his family. Prior to Rosalie's cancer diagnosis they were able to travel and had many fond memories of distant lands. Although Alzheimer's took his memory it could not take his bright blue eyes and soft heart. A very special thank you to Annette, Vivian, Linda and the rest of the team at Faith Lane at River East Personal Care home. You helped make his last days full of love, the family is grateful for all your help. Dad, you were the best father, you were funny, loyal, protective, supportive and loving. We will remember you and miss you forever. We know mom is happy to have you back and you are being well taken care of. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Chapel Lawn Memorial Garden, 4000 Portage Avenue at 10:00 a.m., reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Noel's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Cindy & Dayna, I will always remember your mom and dad as such a loving and devoted couple with each other. I used to enjoy hearing from them when they would come to Vancouver on their quest to retire in B.C. I am so glad they had many good years as a family even though it was hard and sad near the end. They now will be together again and for sure, will be looking over you girls, helping you to have a good life as they did in their life. Take care sincerely Barb Day - Posted by: Barb Day () on: Jun 18, 2013

I believe I am about a 3 cousin to your Dad. However, your grandmother, Marjorie and my mother very very close and as a child my mother and I often visited and stayed with your grandparents in Wpg. Maureen and I have kept in touch over the years as we are about the same age. I recall your Dad's sense of humor and I think he was a bit of a tease also. We were always made to feel so welcome at your grandparents home. Our deepest sympathy goes out to you girls and your families. Take care.
