ANTHONY SEMKIW April 10, 1919 June 13, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tony Semkiw. He will be missed by his devoted wife, Rose, of 66 years. He will also be missed greatly by his children Allan (Donna), Ken (Kelly), Gary (Linda) and Terry (Roxanne). He will also be missed by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Tony was born in Meleb, MB to his late parents Peter and Patricia Semkiw. In his younger years he had attended Cumming School, worked on his parents' farm, worked in the creamery in Fraserwood and cut cord wood from the bush as most prairie farmers did in those days. He enlisted into the armed forces in 1939 and served till the end of the war in 1945. He first enlisted as a Regimental Police Officer for two and a half years. Then he transferred over to the Royal Canadian Cameron Highlanders and Winnipeg Grenadiers for the remainder of the war. He served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 141 and a past member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. The family would also like to thank the staff of Deer Lodge Hospital (Tower 5) for the care they had provided to Tony. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I am so sorry for your loss. My sympathies go out to the whole family. I had always wished that one day I would make it to Winnipeg to meet Uncle Tony & Aunt Rose. I would write letters every year to them once my mom (Margaret Loch, Tony's daughtet)had passed. Aunt Rose and I share the same birthday, Dec. 20th. She always kept me updated on Uncle Carl and the rest of the family. I believe they came to visit Tony in Michigan once, but I was very young at that time. I'm sorry I wasn't able to meet him. I remember a few stories my mom shared with me and I have some pictures I will always cherish. With much sympathy and love, Sandra (Loch) Shinn. - Posted by: Mrs. Sandra Shinn (Loch) daughter of the late Margaret and Louis Loch (Great Niece-my grandfather was Anthony (Tony) Semkow-married to Mary Semkow) on: Feb 09, 2014
