Elsie, Kim, Barb; I just heard about Wes' passing. We unfortunately lost touch with each other a long time ago, but I have very fond memories of our family get-togethers when I was just a kid. You guys were almost like a second family. Wes helped me catch my very first fish (and my very first snapping turtle!) and I can still "chirp" like a cricket the way he taught me to! I have very fond memories of visiting with Elsie's dad out in Vita and camping out in the back. Wes was such a great guy and I am very sad to hear of his passing. My heartfelt condolences to you all. - Posted by: Dave Macpherson (Friend) on: Dec 25, 2013

We would like to extend our deepest heartfelt sympathy to Kim, Dan, Ashley, Katie, Tristan, Kaen and the entire Martin family at the passing of Wes. We were very privileged to meet Wes and Elsie at their great-grandson Kaen's baby shower. Just from that short meeting we knew that family meant everything and Wes was quite proud at having a new little family member. Loved watching him hold little Kaen and even when he started fussing and all the girls rushed in to help Wes out, he was determined with a gentle smile to try and comfort his new great-grandson. In time, may the memories of a loving life shared bring comfort-our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult time. - Posted by: Brad, Bonnie Heide & family, Don and Linda MacDonald (friend) on: Jun 19, 2013

Grandpa, you were taken far too soon, but I know you are at peace now. I miss you and love you more than you will ever know. You were always there for me (and countless others) willing to help in any way you could. We shared almost 26 years together and in that time we had our fair share of laughs, cries, silly moments, scary moments, catching big fish (and a few little ones), going for nature walks, boat rides, and many other countless life lessons and moments. You seemed to have had all the right things to say at the right time.. You've taught me how to be patient, respectful, compassionate, love nature and animals, keep family first, to keep working hard, always say I love you, how to start bonfires (even if I had to tell you not to light one under electrical wires..haha..), how to catch fish and then fillet fish, how to curl (even though most shots were fluke for me), and most of all, how to grow into a strong woman. My grandpa was always so proud to take me everywhere with him. When I came out to the lake, we did everything. When we went to the legion, he was so happy to introduce me to everyone, and often led to telling people how proud he was of me and bragging about me being a dog trainer. My grandpa was one of the most amazing men I have ever had the honour to know and love. He loved my grandma and family dearly. He was selfless, genuine, honest, respectful, hard working, compassionate, loving, funny, reliable, trustworthy, friendly, outgoing, patient, wise, gentle and sweet. You have touched the lives of many many people and will be missed so much by all of us... Love you so much... Until we meet again, Your oldest granddaughter... - Posted by: Ashley Reid (Granddaughter) on: Jun 19, 2013
