Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I met Mary as a friend of my Mother, Zel Smith when they both lived at Sterling House. Mary told me when I last visited her in April that my Mom and Dad (Lloyd and Zel Smith) were her first friends when she moved to Stirling House. I had many visits with Mary when I would visit my parents. Mary would sometimes accompany Mom and me when we would go shopping at Nygards. What fun we had with each of us in a fitting room calling to the others to come and look. One time Mary came with some cousins and I when we took Mom out for Mother's Day. When we got to the restaurant our reservations were not ready for us. The hostess offered that we could eat out on the porch so we did! Although the day was a lovely spring day, it was not really warm enough for us to be outside. The waiter brought us a heater and some blankets and there we were all wrapped up as we ate our food!!! Mary was so positive about the event even though she was cold. She said that she went home, put on the heating pad, sat in her chair, and had a wonderful nap!! What a positive and cheerful person was Mary!! I am so glad that I knew her. She loved her family and talked about all of you so fondly! My condolences to you. I know that you will miss Mary. • Mary will indeed be missed. We had many long phone conversations these last few years. Mary so wanted to go to 'old' Pinawa with us last August, unfortunately her health was too poor. Lots of good memories over the years. Love Betty-Anne & Harry - Posted by: Betty-Anne & Harry Newbury (Cousin ) on: Jun 24, 2013
