KONSTANTINOS (GUS) SIMEONIDIS It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Konstantinos (Gus) Simeonidis. He left us peacefully in his sleep in his home in Taxiarches (Sipsa), Greece on June 15, 2013. The funeral was also in Sipsa on June 16, 2013. Gus was born in Sipsa in 1940. At the age of 17 he immigrated to Thompson, MB and there he joined his bothers Achilleas and George Simeonidis to work in the Inco mines. Gus later went on to marry his childhood sweetheart Anatoli Spiropoulos, with whom he had five children, Semala, Mihail, Haroula, Taso and Alexia. Some years later he moved to Winnipeg where he became one of the founders of the Santa Lucia Pizza company. His first location was in Waterloo. Later on moving to Fort Richmond. His final move was to Morris, MB where he spent his golden years going back and forth from Greece to Morris. When in Morris he enjoyed working alongside his two sons. When in Greece he enjoyed being in his own little paradise he had built for himself and his family in Sipsa. What Gus truly loved was spending time at a peaceful little church in the mountains, named Prophet Elias. He and his brothers had spent many years fixing it for all to enjoy. Family was his priority. Gus loved and was greatly loved by his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. He is predeceased by his parents Mihail and Semala Simeonidis, and his brothers George and Achilleas Simeonidis. He is survived by his wife Anna, his children Semala (husband Niko), Mike (wife Tania), Haroula, Taso (wife Natasha) and Alexia (husband Gianni), and by his grandchildren Martha, Sofia, Anatoli, Christina, Dimitra, Dimitri, Nico, Carol, Anatoli, Beniamin and Konstantinos. Survived also by brothers Lazaros, Basilli (Xrisoula), and Eleftaries (Stavroula) Simeonidis, brothers-in-law Xristos and Paul Spiropoulos, sister-in-law Eleni Simeonidis and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Family was his priority. Gus loved his wife, children and grandchildren very much and he worked hard all his life for them.

To The Loving Simeonidis Family, I am deeply saddened to hear Gus had passed. I just saw Taso and Natasha a day before his passing on that Friday. I had not seen Taso in years but always see Mike and Anna. It has left a big hole in all our lives that such a great man has gone hunting in heaven and left us behind. Never forget you Gus from all your wisdom that you passed down to me. May you all be in my prayers see you again Gus. - Posted by: Walter Livingstone (friend) on: Jun 25, 2013

I first met Gus at a gas station long time ago. He was full of life and a strong willed family man. I spent 13 yrs with him and his family and even traveled to Greece to see his other life there. He always loved his home land but never could stay away from the restaurant life too. I know passing in Greece was a wish of his so he is smiling in heaven for sure. Our wishes to all the family from Roger-Natalie and Bella and Emad and Claudette. May you rest in peace Costa/Gus. Wishes, Bella - Posted by: Jasmine BELLA Haridy (ex-daughter inlaw) on: Jun 23, 2013

Very sorry to see Gus go he was truly one of the nicest people I ever met and quite the character to boot. One of my fondest moments was the two of us hunting geese in the wrong spot by Oak Hammock and having to run like hell from the game wardens when we got caught. We will see you again in heaven Gus and maybe the game warden will be there too. - Posted by: Phil Walding (Friend) on: Jun 23, 2013
