JACK MERVIN LLOYD BLANDFORD Peacefully at Deer Lodge on June 25, 2013 we said goodbye to our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and dog-pa. Remaining to cherish forever his memory in our hearts are his wife of 59 years, Irene (nee Dennison); son Jack (Audrey), daughter Kathy (Joel) Hershfield; grandchildren Amanda and Chris Blandford; Matt, Jordan and Leah Hershfield, and five granddogs. Predeceased by his parents, four brothers and four sisters. Jack was born in Prince Albert, SK and grew up in England before moving to Manitoba in 1948. Jack married Irene in 1954 and raised their family in Charleswood where he spent many hours gardening, in his pool and barbequing. He had two main passions in life, his wife, Irene, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He also loved the Jets and everything Winnipeg. Jack owned a scrap metal and recycling business until his retirement in 1992. Then a TV commercial said "Go RVing" and they did. The family extends a special thank you to the fantastic staff at Deer Lodge 3 West. Your care and compassion meant a lot to us. A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held on Friday, June 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory may be made to the Deer Lodge Foundation. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn 885-9715

  • I have such positive memories of Mr. Blandford - "whomping up a storm" of delicious food while camping or BBQing at the family home on Chalfont Road. More than just memories, Mr. Blandford was a model of how to live in my formative years. I am glad he was my dad's close friend because I got to spend lots of time with him too. Thanks for teaching me to love camping so much! - Posted by: Brad Burns (Friend) on: Jul 03, 2013
