Bob was born in Fort Rouge to railroader Charlie Cobb and his war-bride wife Edith (Wright), went to Earl Grey and Kelvin schools and graduated with a CA degree from the U. of M. in 1951. That was a big year as he married Betty on August 4 at St. Thomas Anglican Church. Bob articled with Thornton, Milne and Campbell, then worked with Patricia Transportation for a year. He began his Beaver Lumber career in 1954, transferring to Regina in 1956. It was in Regina that the family grew from one to four children. Bob finished his career with Thompson, Dorfman, Sweatman from 1972 to 1988. Bob enjoyed family camping trips in the early days, "Cobb Clan" camping in the later days, Grand Beach holidays and his over 40 years barbershopping with the Golden Chordsmen. Throughout his life he was an avid sports fan, playing golf, tennis and curling. He was an active player, secretary and treasurer for the Heather Senior's Golf and Curling leagues. Since moving to Dakota House, Bob enjoyed his time with the Dakota Dazzlers. Bob was a role model for what a father, grandfather, friend and husband should be. The family would like to thank CancerCare for their compassionate care. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 5 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Magdalene Church, 3 St. Vital Road. We met Bob 30 years ago when we moved in next door. He was a great neighbor, and we loved kibitzing with him, often when he passed by from his walk with Smudge...We were not able to make the event to celebrate his life as we were travelling, but our condolences go to Betty and the whole family...Everyone should be so lucky to have such good neighbors for so many years. - Posted by: Larry & Jo Verstraete, Stephen and Ashley, too (next door neighbors for 30+ years) on: Jul 21, 2013

Betty and Family, I extend my sincere condolences. Bob was such a calm and friendly colleague to sing with at chorus and to perform with on the risers. I will miss him and I can only imagine the sense of loss you must feel. I hope that you can take comfort from knowing that he was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. - Posted by: Paul Bullock (Golden Chordsmen friend) on: Jul 04, 2013

Everyone should be so lucky as to have an Uncle like Bob. My brother and sisters and now our kids and grandkids have all been blessed to know him, to hear him call us "kiddo" and to see him sneak another lemon tart. Our thoughts and prayers are with Betty and the whole Cobb gang at this time. - Posted by: Judy Robinson (niece) on: Jul 03, 2013

Betty, our hearts go out to you and your family. Bob was always the voice of calm in the wonderfully chaotic world of #43. He was always keenly interested in what each of us and our families were up to...I always appreciated being included as one of his "old friends".. - Posted by: Kris olsen (Old friend) on: Jul 02, 2013
