YVONNE LAWLER 1919- 2013 Peacefully on June 26, Yvonne, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at home at age 93. She was predeceased by Arthur, her husband of 65 years, her parents Harry and Doris Simpson, and her sisters Pat, Doreen and June. Remembering her with love are her children Bob (Sally), Ed, and Susan Spence (Murray). Also her grandchildren Ted, Amanda, Peggy and Mary and great-grandchild Branson. Mom grew up in Winnipeg in the Beverly Block. She met Arthur while she was working at the Capitol Theatre, married and raised their family in Weston. The family moved to Wildwood Park in 1973. Mom had several jobs- Great West Life, Picardy's, Eaton's and retired from the University of Manitoba Book Store where she managed the sports apparel area for many years. However, her favourite workplace was the home. She excelled at Sunday roast dinners, knitting, and hosting family and friends. Mom made Christmas Day special to everyone year after year. At age 50, Mom learned to drive and the family purchased their first car "a land yacht", which she drove in the city and to and from the cottage. She amazed us all! Mom spent summers at Victoria Beach for 80 years. She passed on a love of the cottage life to all her family. Sunday dinners, cards, birthday celebrations and time spent with grandma at the cottage or on the beach will remain in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers and in memory of her love of dogs, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
