ROBERT JOHN ADLARD September 2, 1947 - June 29, 2013 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert John Adlard, age 65, of Ottawa on June 29, 2013. He is survived by his father, Glenn Thomas of Winnipeg; his children: Jaladriel Dawn (Bryce), Daegan Cameron (Amanda), Brodin Travis Ramsey (Dolores), and his four beautiful grandchildren - Meado, Violet, Lacey, Brio. He is also survived by his wife, Pauline, and his two stepchildren, Robert and Rachelle. Rob's surviving brothers, Tom (Leslie) and Neal (Cheryl) reside in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his mother, Hilda Irene in 2007. Robert was born and raised in Winnipeg, earning degrees from The University of Winnipeg (BA) and The University of Manitoba (BSW, MSW). He went on to have a long and fulfilling career with the Federal Government working in numerous capacities with Corrections Canada and the Department of Justice. His career spanned over 35 years and three provinces, retiring in 2006. Rob will be remembered for many things, but his quick wit and sense of humour are a part of all who knew him. Rob was the ultimate punster. He had a way with words that few could emulate but all could enjoy. His love for his children, his kindness and compassion, his optimism even in the face of adversity, his patience and his enjoyment in life were constants. His strength of character was an inspiration and it never wavered. He will be greatly missed and forever loved. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 1255 Walkley Road, Saturday, July 6 from 11:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Canada, www.muscle.ca.
