JOAN MACGREGOR (née STIRLING) 1923-2013 On June 19, 2013, at the age of 89, Joan left this world to join her beloved husband, Don. She leaves behind children Brent (Lindy Furby), Craig (Mary) and Cindy (Robert Fretz), grandchildren Anne (Joe Cushing), Catherine (Neil Armstrong), Morag and Calum and great-grandson, Owen (Armstrong). She was born on July 7, 1923 in Brightbank, Alberta, a hamlet pioneered by her English parents. Joan, the youngest of seven children, is survived by her sister, Bernice (Daymond), and a large clan of nieces and nephews in Alberta and BC. She loved politics, teaching Sunday School at the Fort Garry United Church in Winnipeg and her two dogs, Wally and Dyllis. In 1979, she and Don retired in Guelph, Ontario to be close to their grandchildren. After Don died in 1981, she enjoyed working at Robert K. Smith Fashions. The family would like to thank everyone at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, Lakeview Lodge and Mark Preece House in Hamilton and the nurses at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus and Caressent Care in Arthur for their compassionate care. Joan will be laid to rest in a family memorial service.
