MARY WALL
Born: Oct 03, 1914
Date of Passing: Jul 01, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY WALL October 3, 1914 - July 1, 2013 Not gone.... but only gone before to where love lives on evermore. Not lost.... but only lost from sight. Predeceased by husband John in 1982, daughter Marlene King in 2000, as well as brother Edwin Schwartz and sister Tina (Toots) Friesen. Mary is survived by her son Rick (Ida) Wall of Sherman Texas, grandchildren Kevin King of Calgary, Robin (Mark) Sumka of Winnipeg, Perrin (Lisa) Wall of Austin, Texas, son-in-law Brian King of Winnipeg as well as great-grandchildren Travis and Chelsea Sumka and Kayla and Kianna King. Mary was born and raised in Altona, Manitoba to parents John J. and Maria Schwartz. She married John Wall in 1940 and they made their home in Horndean, Manitoba where she served as postmaster for 25 years while raising her family. It was not an easy life and many sacrifices were made to provide the best that she could for her children. In 1966 after the children left, Mary and John moved to Winnipeg where she continued to work on a part-time basis for several more years, finally retiring to tend to John as he suffered with a fatal illness. Mom was an incredibly strong person whose children meant the world to her. Having her daughter Marlene pass away was beyond a doubt the most difficult ordeal for her and something that she never really got over. Mom was always happiest when she was able to prepare a feast on those too rare occasions when the family was able to get together. Those lovingly prepared meals - quite often cabbage rolls or perogies - were beyond comparison. Her final years were comfortably spent at Middlechurch Home where she was cared for by an exceptional and devoted staff. According to her wishes cremation has taken place and a family grave-side service will be held at Weidenfeld Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

It was an absolute pleasure to visit with Mary. Always upbeat and with a smile, she went out of her way to make sure everyone was comfortable. She was engaging to speak with, and took a genuine interest in what was happening in other people's lives. To Rick and family, my sincere sympathy. - Posted by: Greg Wolitski (Friend of Perrin (Mary's grandchild)) on: Jul 08, 2013

My dearest Mary, I will miss you greatly. You gave the best hugs ever! To Rick and family my deepest sympathy. Your mother was a delight and it was a privilege to have her as a neighbour and friend on S2. - Posted by: Carol Brisley (Friend from Middlechurch) on: Jul 06, 2013
