JAMES (JIM) LAURENCE December 29, 1961 - February 5, 2013 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of a wonderful husband, father, brother and friend. Jim grew up in St. Vital and lived in Winnipeg, Kenora, Toronto and Mesa, Arizona. Jim brought joy and laughter to everyone who was privileged to know him. Jim was a family man and loved to spend time with his with wife Jodi (Carrington) and four children: Jordan (12), Justine (10), Joseph (10) and Jacob (eight). He was very active with his children's schools and activities; particularly the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. Jim was in sales most of his life; loved to travel and was always planning his next adventure. With his license plate stating THE 6 J'S' Jim travelled with his family in their RV through 48 states and the vast majority of Canada. He didn't stop until they had visited his mother, all four of his sisters, brother and many friends along route. Jim was also a lifelong sports enthusiast with the Leafs and Jets being amongst his favourite. Jim will forever be loved and missed by his wife Jodi, children Jordan, Justine, Joseph and Jacob (Mesa, Arizona), his mother Noella Laurence (Winnipeg, MB), sister Judy Marsales (Hamilton, ON: daughters Andrea and Allison), brother Bob (of Vienna, Virginia: wife Jamie, sons Paul, Bob), sister Sandy Michaud (of Newmarket, ON: husband Victor, daughter Danielle and son Matthew), sister Sharon Beggs (of Chilliwack, BC: husband Ernie, sons Mitchell, John), and twin sister Janet Laurence (of Newmarket, ON: husband Dave, daughter Alexandra and son Nicholas. In-laws Donald and Janis Carrington (Mesa, Arizona), sister-in-law Erin Carrington (Kirkland, Washington), brotherin-law Troy Carrington and wife Crystal, nieces Jasmine Cloos, Harley Larson (Minnesota). Jim will also be missed by many great-nephews and nieces. Jim is predeceased by his father Robert Laurence and infant brother Brian. A celebration of Jim's life was held in Mesa, Arizona on February 13, 2013. We would welcome Jim's friends, former neighbours, and former school mates to Jim's Celebration of Life on Friday, July 19 at the Park Theatre Café from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (http://www.parktheatervideo.com/about/) located at 698 Osborne St., Winnipeg. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Back in February when Gord Taylor gave me the news, I was stunned. I am so sorry Jim is no longer with us. He was always so bright and positive and quick to smile or make you smile. Jim was my first roommate ever. I was 18 and Jim was 24 and we rented a townhouse apartment in St.Vital. That first year we lived together I believe is still one of Winnipeg's worst winters ever. During one blizzard we ate more kraft dinner than humans should. Another great memory I have of Jim was the Ambassadors hockey trip to Germany in 1985. There we were, Jim, Gordie, myself and what I believe was another five guys and 20 bags of hockey equipment all stuffed into a VW Van driving across the Bavarian countryside. I will miss Jim, I already do. But he has already left his mark on me....perhaps on some of you too? - Posted by: Gary De Pape (Close Friend) on: Jul 15, 2013

  • Jim I miss you Everyday I know you'rr in my Heart, but I would like to say that's good enough but it's not. We laughed when the President Obama was running and you said he wasn't going to win I said he will, When ever your kids were doing something you would either get me to phone them or they would phone me. I finally got you to say I Love you every time we hung up the phone or we text I felt it was important that My Brother & Sister know how much we Love one another. I Miss YOU & See You Soon. Love You Always - Posted by: Sharon Beggs (Sister) on: Jul 14, 2013
