Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • It is with considerable regret that I have learned of the tragic passing of Clifford (Cliff) Lear -- a childhood neighbour and friend from the 1940s. We grew up on the same side of the same street (Sunset Blvd.) in St. Vital, a suburb of Winnipeg. With others, we created our own fun and games with whatever we had at our disposal while a far-off war raged in places that we only heard about but didn't quite fully understand. I recall fondly, too, the frequent passings of Cliff's parents, Wally & Irene, back and forth on the sidewalk in front of our house as they went about their separate or individual ways as needs determined. They were kind and friendly and always happy to exchange greetings with their neighbours -- kids included. It was a great time to be alive and I cherish the many childhood moments spent in the company of Cliff while we were stretching our wings towards adulthood. I extend sincere condolences to the families he left behind and I trust all will be blessed by many fond memories of his presence in their respective lives. - Posted by: Verne Prior (former neighbour and childhood playmate) on: Jul 20, 2013
