MARGARET ALISON OLSON Alison was born on December 2, 1926 to Jean and John Millar. She attended Isaac Brock School, Daniel McIntyre High School, Manitoba Normal School, Queen's University and the University of Manitoba. Alison spent thirty years in the classroom, beginning in 1946 in Gimli. She returned to the Winnipeg school system, coming back to Gimli in 1970. Because of health problems she took an early retirement. Alison married Ted Olson, a Gimli fisherman whom she loved dearly. She volunteered in the hospital auxiliary and Senior Resource Council. She attended the Winnipeg. Beach United Church and Gimli Lutheran Church and was a member of the University Women's Club, Selkirk Chapters of the O.C.S. She supported the Conservative Party of Manitoba and Canada and worked in some way from 1951 in every election. She and Ted shared a great love of cats and gave a caring home to many. Alison was predeceased by her parents and brother Jim. Ted passed away in June 2012. Alison wished to be cremated and her ashes interred with Ted's. A private family interment will take place in the Columbarium at the Gimli Community Cemetery.
