ANN MOUNCE (nee MACLEOD) July 6, 1923 July 12, 2013 Ann Mounce, widow of M. Ross Mounce, peacefully passed away with family by her side on July 12, 2013. Ann gave us a wonderful gift by sharing her life story, this is what she wrote: "I have been truly fortunate and have thanked God many times for the good life I have led. I had the love of a good man. What more could anyone ask? His death on January 25, 1978 was devastating but somehow I managed to lead a worthwhile existence without his love and guidance. I loved to sing and did. I often marveled that my beloved parents, both whom emigrated from the Isle of Lewis, Scotland, saw to it that my sister Peggy and I had piano lessons and later voice training despite the fact they had so little of this world's material wealth. Music enriched my life. I performed on CBC Radio and TV in the 1950s and held the position of soprano soloist at Grace and Young United churches for a total of 22 years. I found it most gratifying to continue being asked to sing even into my seventies. I was employed by the Bank of Montreal for 41 wonderful years. I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time on a number of occasions and when first appointed to Management in 1965, I was the third female to have this distinction in Manitoba/Saskatchewan Division at that time. The pinnacle of my working career was my appointment as Divisional Manager, Marketing Services. I retired in July 1994. I loved to travel and was fortunate to visit many countries with Ross by car, plane and best of all, cruise ships. Since Ross died I went on tours and met many wonderful people. I loved dogs, and in my lifetime had four. Two Scottish Terriers, both named Sandy, a beagle named Skipper and finally, Angus, the dear little Westie who brightened the last years of my life. I was a member of Young United Church and served as Chair of the Board of Trustees for four years also President of their UCW for two years. I was president of the Woman's Canadian Club of Winnipeg for the 1987/1988 season. I was a member of the Three O'clock Club, the Business and Professional Woman's Club and the Bank of Montreal Alumni. My dear sister Peggy Gaynor of Vancouver and my brother-in-law, Cliff Gaynor predeceased me as well as Ross's beloved son, David. I leave my nephew Don Gaynor, Lucille Mounce, David's widow and their children Brian and Sharon. In Winnipeg I leave Gia and Ray Couture, Heather Clare and her daughter Christina." "My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoined in God My Saviour." Our sincere thanks to the Nurses and Staff of the 6th floor of St. Boniface Hospital for the exceptional care they provided Ann in her last days. A memorial service for Ann will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Young United Church, 222 Furby Street, with the Reverend Noelle Bowles to preside. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I knew Ann most of my life as she was a dear friend of the family. We all attended Young United Church and she was very close friends with my Aunt Margaret and Marion. When M&M went to Scotland they visited Ann's family and had a most enjoyable time. I also remember how she totally surprised me with a Bridal Shower. So very thoughtful. She was always singing and had such a beautiful voice. She will be missed. My sincere sympathy to the family. Be at peace Ann and I am sure there will be a lot of singing when you join all the members from Young United choir who have passed. - Posted by: Barb (Agnew) Miller (Friend) on: Jul 15, 2013

  • My sincerest sympathy to Anne's family. I worked with Anne at the Bank of Montreal in 63 to September 64 when I married. Anne sang at my wedding. - Posted by: Diana Hicks (co-worker Bank of Montreal) on: Jul 15, 2013
