WESLEY CONRAD DOLL April 25, 1950 - July 12, 2013 It is with deep sorrow that the family of Wesley Conrad Doll announces his passing at the age of 63. Wes is survived by his mother Inga Doll, his children Quentin and Krista Doll and their mother Jackie Doll. Wes will also be dearly missed by his little dog Scooter. Wes spent his early years in Arborg, MB and at the age of 11 moved with his Mom to Winnipeg. Wes attended Sisler High School and joined the school band where his love of music took root. With this new found passion for music in his early teens he and four friends formed a band called "The Lost and Found" which was later renamed "Thee Mournin' Missed". Wes was also an original member of "The Love Cyrcle" and wrote many wonderful songs including "Never Leave Me Never", a #1 Canadian hit in 1969. Wes toured Western Canada with Love Cyrcle until he married Jackie; then his focus became his family. His music legacy is a wonderful and lasting gift to his family and those that enjoyed his music. Wes worked in the corrugated container industry for 37 years and with his brilliance and dogged determination to make things work better, he developed four international patents. He was highly regarded by those who recognized his contributions to the industry. Wes retired at 57 and spent his last years focusing on his music and his love for guitars. Wes had a wonderful sense of humour and will be remembered by his family and friends for his one-liners and practical jokes. Special thanks to Michael Gillespie, Wes' friend for 47 years who has been so helpful and supportive at this difficult time. Wes is also survived by Uncle Pall Palsson, Aunt Gudren (Rob) Tait, uncles Larus, Oli, Siggi and Victor Palsson; cousins Valerie (Doug) Anderson, Pat (Victor) Eyolfson, Raymond (Kathy) Palsson, Roslyn (Morley) Sigvaldason, Deanna (Blair) Fridfinnson, Ralph Tait, Paula (Irvin) Biluk, Bruce (Cheryl) Tait, Pam Tait, Linda (Ken) Foster, Greg (Laureen) Palsson, Elaine (Ron) Shoemaker, Ernest (Brenda) Palsson, David Palsson. Predeceased by father Wallace Doll, grandparents Larus and Elin Palsson; aunts Beatrice Valstyn, Sigurros (Pall) Palsson, Margaret (Larus) Palsson and uncle Hjalti Palsson. Cremation has taken place. In accordance with his wishes, a celebration of Wes' life will be held at a later date for family and friends. "He leads me beside the still waters, He restores my soul" - 23rd Psalm

  • I have just heard of Wes passing on. My condolences to the family. I first met Wes in 1980 when I began work at the same corrugated plant that Wes worked at. Over the years we shared many laughs and jokes. Wes was a brilliant man. I will always remember his laugh. He will be dearly missed! - Posted by: Lorne Rezansoff (co-worker and friend) on: Sep 27, 2013

  • I met Wes in Panama City Florida. I own a floating restaurant there, Wes showed up and of course we talked about music. He came back that evening and we broke out my guitar and a few beers. Wes was traveling with David Lauderbaugh and his wife on their boat. The next day Wes went into town and bought a guitar and amp. He showed up and for two days it was guitars, beers, stories and song. When Wes departed with the Lauderbaughs I received a message that Wes had left me a gift. It was the guitar and amp he had purchased. I only got to know Wes for a very short time and I am saddened by his passing. But I will never forget his kindness, generosity, laughter and passing friendship. Rest in peace Wes. - Posted by: Ernie Hall (passing friend) on: Jul 25, 2013

  • My condolences to Quentin and Krista and the Doll family. Wes was one of a kind. We worked together for more than 20 years. Wes was never at a loss for comebacks and good discussions (arguments). He was a great guy to work for and with. Many fond memories of him and his humor, always ready with a joke or willing to hear a new one. He will surely be missed. - Posted by: Paul h. • I met Wes a long time age when we both were on TAPPI committees and I enjoyed the stories that he would tell me. Good bye my friend. - Posted by: Jim Carbone (TAPPI & a friend) on: Jul 23, 2013

  • I met Wes for the first time on May 23, 2002 and worked with him closely until he retired. To this day we still make reference to the Wessisms. Wes was always focused on the task at hand, sometimes too focused. Wes once watched me set a live mouse trap inside my desk drawer. Shortly after he asked to borrow a flashlight. I told him help yourself it's in the top drawer. Snap, cursing, then the dreaded "you will pay for that, and soon." I will always remember Wes. Sincere sympathy to Quentin and family. - Posted by: Ken Miscavish (Co-worker) on: Jul 23, 2013

  • More than 20 years ago I recieved a phone call from Wes wanting me to make something for his Corrugator. A yearly trip on my boat began soon after. I wanted to absorb as much of Wes's Knowledge as I could. As we traveled the Gulf coast from Destin to Apalachicola (our last trip was in May) many Wessisms were born ..Let's go Gulphing.."Thank heaven we don't have an Electrician on board they always run a ground" Wes's law "Nothing can be improved until you make it worse first" happens every day. "You know what I mean" Wes reserved a spot on the boat the week of Oct 6th for a trip. He will be missed! - Posted by: David Lauderbaugh (Long time friend and Industry Manufacturer) on: Jul 23, 2013

  • My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time. Wes always had a smile and joke for everyone. I will miss you my friend. - Posted by: Randy Taman (Friend) on: Jul 22, 2013

  • I was a classmate in high school, and we also were linemates on the Northwood CC hockey team for about 3 years. Wes was always fun & smiling. Although we did not keep in touch, I thought of him occasionally. I am not surprised to hear of his music success. Sincere condolences to the family. Rest in peace Wesley. - Posted by: Doug J. • It is with great sadness that I hear of Wesley's passing. I have known him in more recent years and we had many discussions about music and guitars, interests which we shared. I also enjoyed his sense of humour and always enjoyed seeing him. In recent times he was really trying to get the most out of life and was pursuing his musical interests with great gusto. I got somewhat involved with that, and it was hard to keep up with him. So long Wes, it was great to know you. My condolences to your family. - Posted by: Barry Konzelman (Friend) on: Jul 21, 2013

  • I knew Wes during the 15 years we worked together at the same corrugated container company. I always chuckled when new machinery was brought in, because it was Wes who made sure every thing fit where it was supposed to go. Out on the floor,...shirt untucked,...hands on his hips, and his trusty tape measure in hand. He always made it work. I remember his laugh, because he always had a funny story, or joke to share. Sorry to hear of his passing, condolences to the family. - Posted by: Reggie Taman (Former Co-worker) on: Jul 21, 2013
