ELIE JOSEPH PIERRE MORRISSETTE
Born: Sep 09, 1935
Date of Passing: Jul 11, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIE JOSEPH PIERRE MORRISSETTE September 9, 1935 July 11, 2013 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Father, Elie Morrissette, age 77 years, on July 11, 2013 at the Health Sciences Centre with his family by his side. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by daughters Rosemary, husband David Rozyk; Michele Morrissette and Carmele Agius, fiancé Horst Habeck. He will also be sadly missed by his grand-children Mandy Rozyk, Terra Morrissette (Shelby Payne); Jodi Pauls (Sean Pauls), Chantel and Riley Agius; great-grandchildren Joey and Emily Morrissette and Andrew Pauls. Dad is survived by his sister Marie Kowalski and her husband Stan; as well as numerous family members, special friends and of course his beloved cat Katie. Dad was predeceased by our Mother Delores (2007), whom he missed dearly every day after her passing. He was also predeceased by his Brother Emile (2004), Father Leon (1998), Mother Lea (1997) and infant Brother Joseph (1929). Dad was born on September 9, 1935 in Winnipeg where he lived most of his life. He married our Mom Delores Whitesell on July 3, 1954. Together, they loved to travel in their mobile home and enjoyed all the sites to see. Their claim to fame was that they travelled most of Canada and at least 30 States in the U.S. They also travelled to other destinations like Cuba and Hawaii. It was nothing for Mom and Dad to pack up and leave for a trip in a moment's notice. This never faded as Dad continued to travel to British Columbia every year after Mom's passing. Incredibly, Dad had the ability to recall the directions to every destination that he ever visited. He always had the right streets, roads, highways and interstates at the ready. Dad was a talented self-taught musician, playing harmonica and guitar. Music was a huge part of our lives growing up with him. He shared his musical talents by volunteering at different Nursing Homes and playing old-time music for the residents. He was a very giving person, also volunteering at Siloam Mission and helping many others along his life's way. One always knew that help was just a phone call away. Dad was very proud of his Metis heritage and was honoured to serve as an Elder on the St. Norbert Parish La Barriere Metis Council. He was also a very avid reader and enjoyed reading about Canadian history and different countries around the world. Dad was a great jokester and everyone always had to be on their toes around him. We will truly miss his jokes, pranks, stories and laughter. The family would like to thank Dr. Raubenheimer and Dr. Unruh for Dad's care during his short battle with cancer. In keeping with Dad's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to D'Arcy's A.R.C. (Animal Rescue Centre) at 730B Century Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3H 0M1. Dad, we are grateful to have shared our lives with you and thank you for everything you have taught us. We will miss you terribly and treasure your memory always. May you be at peace and reunited with Mom to travel wherever your souls desire. Elie was a long time friend of my father and mother - Howard and Frances Winters. Especially my father as together they grew up in Charleswood and had a lifetime of memories made together. He will be missed but the stories my father has told us over the years of their antics as kids will keep him alive in the hearts and minds of all of us. On behalf of the Winters family please accept our deepest sympathy over the passing of a wonderful man and friend. - Posted by: Linda Winters Vallee (friend) on: Jul 21, 2013

Elie was a great support to the St. Norbert Metis Council. He regularly attended meetings and offered advice when needed. We could always count on Elie to speak his mind. He was a gentle man with a heart of gold. We loved his sense of humor. It's not the length of time that you know someone that makes them so special. It's what they brought into our lives that matters. Elie brought so much to each of us in his own special way. Rest in peace Elie...till we meet again some day!! - Posted by: Linda & Vinko (friends) on: Jul 21, 2013
