JOHN CHORNEY It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Chorney at Concordia Hospital on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the age of 81. John was born April 13, 1932 in Cowan, MB. He enjoyed his childhood in Fraserwood, MB with his parents and siblings. John is survived by his wife of 24 years Sylvia; his daughter Carol (Dean); Sylvia's children, Larry (Chantal), Greg, Donna (Bill); and grandchildren, Krysten, Jordan, Scott and Jamie. Also survived by sister, Mary, Julie (Zenon); brother Mers (Voilet); sisters-in-law, Marianne and Stella. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Jessie; brothers, Orest and Ed; sister Elise and brother-in-law Ed. John enjoyed his retirement years. He started his day by meeting his coffee buddies at 6:00 a.m. at Robins Donuts. He enjoyed gardening especially his tomatoes and onions. He cut grass and shovelled snow until he was 80 making many friends. John was generous with his time, known for his patience and his sense of humour, always cracking a joke. John was a member of St. Gerard Parish and a member of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed watching wrestling and five-pin bowling for a number of years. The family would like to thank everyone who visited John in the hospital and the staff at Concordia Hospital for their compassion and care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gerard Parish, 45 Foster Street. Father Pierre Wood O.F.M., Cap. will officiate. Interment will follow at Fraserwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society. 204-586-8044
