August 11, 1927 Winnipeg, MB July 23, 2013 Calgary, AB After a remarkable life, Wallace MacInnes passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the age of 85 years. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Wallace graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1951 with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree. He married the love of his life, Margery Baker, in Winnipeg on May 25, 1951. The family finally settled in Calgary where Wallace became one of the founders of the law firm that became known as Ballem McDill MacInnes, and ultimately as Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP. Wallace served on the boards of various professional organizations and corporations in the oil and gas industry, and held leadership positions with numerous charitable and philanthropic organizations, including the Alberta Cancer Foundation and Wood's Christian Homes. He was involved with Parks Foundation Calgary, and served as President of Earl Grey Golf Club. In his free time, Wallace enjoyed hiking, skiing, golfing, tennis and squash. He lived his life fully and endured his recent illnesses with courage and good humour. A true gentleman lawyer, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his children Kathleen Henderson (Mark) of Edmonton, Margaret Scobie (Jeffrey) of Calgary and John MacInnes (Dawn) of Calgary; grandchildren Michael, Graham and Sarah Henderson, Carolyn and Susan Scobie and Bayne MacInnes; and sisters Eleanor McDowall, Margaret Floyd and Hazel Hayles. Wallace was predeceased by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Margery MacInnes; parents Roy and Kathleen MacInnes; grandson Donald Scobie; and brothers Ronald, Edward, and Campbell. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Elbow Park (3602 8th Street SW, Calgary, AB) on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded www.mcinnisandholloway.com. We have known Wally & Marjory for many years when we lived in Calgary -for 14 yrs, we hiked together, partied together, laughed together...
