Dorothy and I had a very close relationship as cousins. Although I was in Saskatchewan and she was in Manitoba-we talked on the phone nearly every day. Since her mom passed away in 2006 Dorothy has missed her dearly as they spent their entire life together. Since March 2012 Dorothy had made her home at Charleswood Care Centre in Winnipeg. It was there that Dorothy found the family that provided her the love and care she desperately needed. I am very thankful to all those that made Dorothy comfortable and made sure her needs were met and moreover provided her with friendship and love. Happiness and contentment was evident once again in Dorothy's voice. Last Christmas was the happiest Christmas of her life she told me and I could visualize her face light up. In the past months-Dorothy had become tired and a couple of weeks ago I asked her what she missed most in her life and without hesitation she said "I miss mom". I pray that you are at peace Dorothy and that you and Aunt Jean have been reunited. I am proud to say that you were my cousin and it was a gift to have known you. Words cannot express my thanks to the Charleswood gang and especially Shelly for being there when I could not. May you all be blessed with the best life can offer! - Posted by: Jim Rickwood (cousin) on: Jul 30, 2013
