RONALD GORBER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Gorber at St. Boniface Hospital on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the age of 80. Ron is survived by his wife Frances of 41 years, his daughter Kathy and son Jeffrey. He is also survived by his nephew Edward and nieces Patricia and Linda, and many cousins and relatives. Ron was predeceased by his parents Stella and Walter Gorber and brother Edward Gorber. Ron obtained his teaching degree from the University of Winnipeg in 1969. He went on to teach high school at Lorette Collegiate in Lorette, MB. He also worked for CN Rail for 37 years as a locomotive engineer until his retirement in 1994. In his younger years, Ron enjoyed taking his children to their hockey and ringette games, taking road trips with the family to California, Texas and Chicago, and was a very energetic, generous, and fun-loving person. In his retirement years, Ron enjoyed curling, having coffee with friends, spending time at the family cottage at Winnipeg Beach, and travelling with his wife Frances to the Caribbean. Ron had lots of passion for animals, and had several dogs throughout his life. A special thanks to Dr. Suss and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society on Ron's behalf. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 31 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road, with Fr. Fred Olds officiating.
