Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • What joy and relief when our loved ones began to return from the war! First, my wonderful big brother, Constant, came home and married his devoted sweetheart, Therese. Then, just a few days later, my beloved James returned and our amazing mother, Marie Wyndels, hosted another wedding - we had learned, during the war, that time is precious and not to be wasted. James and I were close to Connie and Terry, and when we returned from England with our own baby, Jennifer, we helped take care of little Jimmy while Therese gave birth to Carolyn. It really was a "baby boom". Even when we moved to Toronto, we stayed close with regular visits, and Jennifer enjoyed her time with her cousins. Eventually, retirement gave us the opportunity to spend time together in Florida along with our sister, Zoe and her family. It was amazing, really, the way our lives continued to intertwine - Mama would have been so pleased. I wish love and condolence to you all, Auntie Jeanne. P.S. It was fun to see the names of your children and grandchildren. I wish you all the very best. Love, Jennifer. - Posted by: Jeanne Dykes(Wyndels) and Jennifer Then(Dykes) (Sister-in-law and niece.) on: Aug 08, 2013

  • I loved the way that Therese adapted to life in Ottawa. She was effervescent, very stylish and had a wonderful view of life. She was talented and often we could hear her piano playing...,a light touch of the keys and yet sensitive and "fun". Our lives were brighter because she was here. Therese's caring wisdom and love was reflected and demonstrated by Jim's love and devotion to her during this last long illness. An enormous legacy Therese! - Posted by: Jo MacQuarrie and family (Friend and neighbor) on: Aug 06, 2013

Affectueusement. - Posted by: Françoise Tétu De Labsade (amie) on: Aug 03, 2013

  • There comes a time in all our lives when we must say good-bye to those we love. You can rest assured Jim that your Mother is at peace, and, very proud of her son for the care, and, dedication shown her by you in her later years. - Posted by: Donna and Malcolm Getz (friends) on: Aug 02, 2013

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Therese Coutu-Wyndels a few years ago, when she came to Ottawa. She was a remarkable woman, bright, enjoying life and blessed with a delightful sense of humour. I had mixed feelings when I heard she died. Sadness was quickly replaced by relief. She had suffered long enough. Her son, James, took such good care of her during her illness. Such devotion is as rare as it is impressive. I hope Therese will rest in peace for Eternity. - Posted by: Andre Guillemette (friend ) on: Jul 31, 2013
