ALVIN (AL) KALAWARNY March 31, 1937 - July 19, 2013 Peacefully, at home, Al passed away after a brief battle with colon cancer. Al will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Faye; children Warren (Elissa), and Krystle (Garren) and grandson Kevin. Also from a former marriage; Gilbert (Connie), Christine (Dan), Richard, Guy and grandchildren. Also left to mourn are his sisters; Stella Bloodworth, Kathy McRae (Garry), Doris Wolfe, Rose Ross and brother George (Pauline) and numerous other family members and friends. Al was predeceased by his parents Nick and Mary, brother Walter, sisters Lyda, Irene Rodd and Evelyn Smith. Brothers-in-law; Charlie Bloodworth, Danny Rodd and Jerry Smith. Sister-in-law Mary Kalawarny. Al was raised and worked on the family farm near Balmoral. In his teens he worked with his dad at Commonwealth Construction. After that, he then began his career rebuilding automatic transmissions and opened his own shop on Arena Road known as Arena Transmissions. He was a mechanic and a "Jack of all Trades". As per Al's request, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held on Monday, August 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Victoria Cemetery in Balmoral, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation 1160-675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
