ROBERT JOHN KENNEDY
Born: Nov 03, 1945
Date of Passing: Jul 20, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT JOHN KENNEDY It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our Father on July 20, 2013, at the Portage District General Hospital with his daughter Leslie by his side. Dad or "Bob" as he was known to his close friends and family was born on November 3, 1945 in Winnipeg, MB to Harold and Marjorie Kennedy. Dad was raised in Oakville, MB before setting up roots in Saskatchewan, Thompson, Winnipeg and Ste. Rose Du Lac but it was Oakville that he always called "Home". It was in the 1980s that Dad started his Career as an Addictions Counsellor. He was a great listener, easy to talk to, never judgemental and more than anything he understood. He took great pride in knowing that what he did helped people. He could do many things, but the thing he did best was being a Father. Dad never missed a hockey, ringette, soccer or baseball game, he was always there cheering us on. He was always there when you needed him. There was never a dull moment, he loved to laugh and had a sense of humour like no other which he maintained right up to his final days. He will be forever missed and leaves to mourn our mom Laverne Karlsen; his children: Grant (Laurie) Kennedy, Kelli (Brad) Jackson, Leslie (Jeff) Peterson, and Rob (Lori) Kennedy; grandchildren: Katie, Moira, Jayden, Teryl, Ayden, Kristin, Kaylee, Jordyn, Mackenzie and Kole; his sister Alice Grant; brother Bill (Sharon) Kennedy of Oakville, MB, and his best friends Jack McLeod and Verlynne Dahl as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Marjorie Kennedy, brother-in-law Jack Grant, and sisters-in-law Maxine Dahl and Marlene Carlson. We would like to extend a very special thank-you to dad's big sister Alice for being there for him, as well as the nurses at the Lions Prairie Manor, especially Jackie, Kim and Darlene. A service will be held Saturday, August 10 at 3:00 p.m., at the Oakville Cemetery. A gathering will follow at the Oakville Seniors Hall. Arrangements entrusted to Ronald Moffit Memorial Services Portage la Prairie, Manitoba 204-856-3487
