Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALD EDWARD LENTON December 3, 1912 - August 5, 2013 The family is very saddened to relay that dad passed away, peacefully, at Victoria General Hospital on Monday, August 5, 2013. Dad was the only child of Edward and Jenny Lenton. Dad is predeceased by his beloved wife Thelma (Cochrane) with whom he shared 56 years of marriage, his dearly loved daughter, Gale Stechishin, his son-in-law Bruno Basso and many cousins and other relatives. He is survived by his sons Tom (Andrea), and Paul (Bonnie) Lenton, his daughters Pat Basso of Thunder Bay and Judy (Ken) Poole, and his son-in-law Peter Stechishin. As well, he will be sadly missed by his grandchildren. Dan (Karen) Poole, Gord (Lysane) Poole, Allan (Daleon) Stechishin, Doug (Sav) Stechishin will miss their Dabby. Keith and Mark Lenton will miss their Jerry, and Regan and Mitch Lenton will miss their Buddy. Dad was overjoyed to know his great-grandchildren Jeremy and Elliot Poole and Stella Stechishin. Dad will also be missed by his dear friend Evelyn Burns and all his friends, old and new. Dad was born on Parkview Street and lived almost his 100 plus years in St. James. After 57 years in his home on Marjorie Street, he took up residence in the Sturgeon Creek Retirement Residence for six years. Just four months ago, he moved to a Personal Care Home. Dad was a familiar face to many folks in St. James. He was a people person who delighted in striking up a conversation with fellow transit bus riders, folks at the mall or folks he encountered along the way. As a letter carrier for many years, he cut a fine figure in his postal uniform and no doubt there are still folks who will remember the friendly postman who always had a happy smile and a cheery word for everyone. Dad was devoted to his family and we will all, forever, hold him in our hearts with love. The family extends thanks to Dr. M. Jain and the staff of Unit 4 North, Victoria Hospital, for their kindness and compassion to Dad and the family. Thanks also to the staff of Main Street at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre who cared for dad during his short stay there. As dad wished, there will be no funeral service. If you wish to make a donation in dad's memory, please do so to a charity of your choice.
