EDWARD JOHN MOHR 1928 - 2013 Ed Mohr passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2013. He leaves behind his loving wife, Shirley Mohr, their four children, Greg Mohr (Sharon), Grant Mohr (Joan), Lori Mohr-Wells (Jack), Doug McKenzie-Mohr (Sue) and his five grandchildren, Carly, Taryn, Connor, Matthew and Jaime. Ed was born in Burnaby, BC on September 12, 1928 but spent most of his life in Winnipeg. For the last 20 years of his career, he ran his own business Rhom Specialties. The love of his life was his wife, Shirley, and their stack-wall cottage (a labour of love) which he built on Locke Bay near Kenora. As per our Dad's wishes, his body has been bequeathed to the University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine. The family wishes to thank the Golden Door Geriatric Centre for their care and compassion for Ed. We also would like to thank our parents' friends and our Aunt Bev for their support and love over the last year. A Drop-in Gathering will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Seine River Retirement Residence, 1015 St. Anne's Rd. from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Condolences to your family. Ed and Shirley were our neighbours both at the Lake as well as in St-Vital (next street over from ours). They were always so kind to us! The whole family really appreciated their help when my mother was terminal. As a small child I used to drive Ed absolutely bonkers by regularly filching the raspberries from his beautiful and bountiful garden at the lake. I wasn`t the only garden thief though; and remember the stories about Ed chasing black bears out of his garden with a broom. I am truly sorry to hear about your loss. - Posted by: Janet La France (Neighbour) on: Sep 04, 2013

  • Ed & Shirley were our neighbours in St. Vital. They were so kind to us and our young daughter. I have fond memories of spending time with them at their home and visiting them at the cottage. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. - Posted by: Gillian Huppe (Neighbour) on: Aug 23, 2013

  • We will miss having coffee and conversation with Ed and Shirley, it was so nice when they dropped in. He was such a wonderful husband, and partner to Shirley, they had a wonderful and long life together. We will miss having them here on Locke Bay. - Posted by: Trucia and Ralph Howard (Locke Bay neighbours) on: Aug 17, 2013

  • I have so many fond memories of buying cake decorating supplies from the "shop" in Mr. Mohr's garage on St. Mary's road. My kids (now 40 & 36 yrs. old) loved to come with me & play with the dog. A quick trip to pick up something turned into a session as we shared stories & laughs. My heart goes out to the family of this lovely man. - Posted by: Renee Butchart (an old customer) on: Aug 16, 2013
