Louise Evelyn Fischer was born on December 19, 1917 at Findlay, Manitoba. She was the third of five children born to Fred and Mary (Atchison). She married Robert Allan Barry on April 11, 1940 at Ninga, Manitoba and together they raised eight children. Louise and Bob spent most of their lives in Winnipeg. Her husband, parents, one sister and two brothers predecease her. Louise is survived by her children Patricia (Wilbert) Sopher, Linda (Dale Lewicki), Elmhurst, Judy (Sandy) Stratton, Joan (Frank) Boone, Edie (Roger) Pujo, Robert Barry, Ken (Sandy) Barry and Brian (Deb) Barry. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She also leaves behind her 94 year old brother Art (Edith) Fischer. Louise will be remembered by many other relatives and friends. In times past mom loved to bake and was famous for her "brown" cake, butter tarts and raisin buns. No family meal was complete without dessert and scalding hot tea. Her love of cats was evident throughout her apartment. Also, all who survived them will remember her famous hugs. Louise developed many lasting friendships and special recognition is offered to the Prendergast Seniors Club and the residents and staff at Riverside Lions Estate, which has been her home for the last four and a half years of her life. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the Victoria Hospital for their kindness and support. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions in Louise's memory may do so to The Humane Society or a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Louise's life will be held at St. Mary's Road United Church, 613 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18 with Rev. Philip Read officiating. Parking is limited to street parking only. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Aunt Louise (Toots) will be remembered with love and also with some amazement. I can't imagine still writing letters and Christmas cards in my mid nineties! I was glad to visit with Aunt Toots in Kelowna in recent years and was a recipient of those wonderful hugs! She kept up with her walking and kept her mind sharp. Aunt Toots was a person to admire and we can only aspire to her long healthy life. Sincere condolences to all of my cousins. Love Claudia - Posted by: Claudia and Rick Bunn (Niece) on: Aug 15, 2013
