  • I am so sorry to hear of Norm's passing and my condolences go out to Gerry and his children and their families. Norm and I were friends in school and later we were both in the Winnipeg Police force. I recently spoke with him and he told me about their plans to go to Fairmont for a vacation. We remember them staying with us in Thunder Bay with their besenjis and we had a wonderful time seeing them show their dogs and the work that went into their upkeep. I will miss our email and phone chats. - Posted by: Bill Dawes (Friend) on: Aug 20, 2013

  • Mr. Wickdahl was one of my Dad's friends that made me feel safe in Winnipeg. He was smart, tough, funny, and kind. He left this place better than how he found it. I will miss him, but I'm glad to know a lot of him continues through his family. - Posted by: Tim Diack () on: Aug 19, 2013

  • I only had one big brother and I am so glad it was you. We lived so far apart it was hard to get together and we weren't able to share as many memories as I would have liked, but the times we had together were great. Love you and will miss you always. • Norm and Gerry have been "Uncle and Aunt" to my children for in excess of 40 years, meaning we were friends for that long. I saw support from them through some of my darkest hours. It does not seem possible that part of that couple (Norm) has passed on! Rest in Peace Norm ! May you continue to gaze upon your loving family from your new residence on high! - Posted by: Terri Evans (Friend) on: Aug 16, 2013

  • Very sad to hear of Norm's passing. We were neighbors here in Qualicum Beach,BC, as well as former members of the W.P.D. Here in Q.B. we would get together with Alfie Diack (now deceased) and our wives, at the Legion where we exchanged many a "war story" from our days on the W.P.D. We have lost a good comrade. My condolences to Gerry and the family. Ron Truesdale - Posted by: Ron Truesdale (Friend, neighbor,& former W.P.D. comrade) on: Aug 15, 2013

  • I first met Norm when he was in the Traffic Division in the Winnipeg Police Dept. But I got to know him much better later when we both were assigned to the old Detective Division in the Public Safety Bldg across from City Hall. My enduring memory of Norm is that of a hard worker and someone who lived and practiced something that's in short supply today - the Golden Rule. I always remember when he moved from the City to acreage outside Winnipeg and planted something like 2000 trees. That year he lost so much weight he could almost wrap his suit jacket around himself twice. People notice other people with a great work ethic. That was Norm. And he frequently had a humorous comment about my police reports, as lately as this past May. Thanks Norm. - Posted by: Julian (Julie) Zayac - White Rock, BC (Friend & Co-worker) on: Aug 15, 2013

  • You were taken from us way too soon. Although we shared so much together, there was still so much more to see and do. I wasn't ready to let you go and not without saying goodbye or I love you one last time. I will miss you dad, you were more than just a dad to me....you were my friend, someone I looked up to and respected and most of all proud of. I wish I had gotten the chance to say this to you one last time, I love you. - Posted by: Glenn Wickdahl (Son) on: Aug 15, 2013
