EUNICE GABRIELLE MARK June 24, 1922 - August 11, 2013 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing, on August 11, 2013, of Eunice Gabrielle Mark. Born and raised in London, England, Eunice worked as a bookkeeper with the Royal Air Force during the Second World War, at which time she met and married Canadian Sapper Charles Mark. In 1946 she joined her husband and started a new life in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with their young son, Douglas. In 1958, she gave birth to a second son, Christopher. Eunice proudly worked for many years with the Girl Guides of Canada and lived a long, fruitful life filled with friends and adventures. Her many travels took her to destinations in Europe, North and South America, and the Caribbean. Always game to learn something new, she took up Tai Chi in her early 80s, loved to dance, and enjoyed an active social life. Eunice is predeceased by her husband, Charles (1990), and eldest son, Douglas (2008); as well as her brothers Wilfred (Pip), Albert (Bert), and Gerald. A woman of great dignity and integrity, Eunice valued honesty, perseverance, and humour. She was a formidable opponent at bridge, playing at a Master level in Duplicate Bridge for many years. Eunice adored animals and was a talented crafter. She is survived by her son Christopher and his wife Maureen; sister Doreen (Cis) Stokell; daughter-in-law Margaret Mark; grandchildren Lisa, Robert, Michelle, Steven, Adam, Jeffrey, and Danny; seven great-grandchildren; as well as family in England and New Zealand. The family thanks all those who provided care and support to Eunice in her final days. As per Eunice's wishes, there will be no formal services. Interment to take place at Brookside Cemetery alongside Charles. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eunice's honour to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Eunice believed that people can be measured by how they are remembered by their loved ones. She is remembered with fondness, gratitude, love, and will be dearly missed.

Charles and Eunice were older than I am, I guess that is why we never became close, I wished that we could have done so. I'm sure that we would have enjoyed each others company. I know that Eunice will be sadly missed. She is now with all her family who went before her. - Posted by: Myrna Folk (Richardson) (Charles Mark and I were first cousins. Mrs. Mark was always a "tell it like it is" type of person. She had an amazing sense of humour in spite of hardship. She made the best "Christmas Elves" which are now being wheeled around in the doll stroller by every 1-3 yr old who enters the playroom. She had no time for old age-which always made her interesting to be around. She was the Mom of one of our "best family friends" Doug and always had an opinion. Very intelligent, very well read and always a lady. She sugar coated nothing - which always made me laugh! My sister Donna always looked forward to seeing her on the seniors bus that brought her to Safeway at Pembina and MacGillvray . She was a spark that always made life interesting and I'll miss her spirit! Rest in peace, Mrs. Mark - a job well done! Eunice was our neighbour on Patricia Ave. and was a faithful, reliable usher at MTC for many years. She was a lovely lady. - Posted by: Eric and Dorothy Marshall () on: Aug 19, 2013
