HOWARD JOHN LEMMON April 18, 1938 - August 14, 2013 Howard passed peacefully at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital in his 75th year, beloved husband of Susan and father of Travis (Lauren), Tyler and Daniel. Howard is also survived by his two brothers Trevor (Joan) and Bruce (Vicki) and their families in England. Howard immigrated to Canada as a young man and spent most of his working life with The Hudson's Bay Company and later The North West Company. He retired from his position as Advertising Director in 1999, after working in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and finishing his career in Winnipeg. The family relocated to Nanaimo, BC in the summer of 2002. Howard loved Vancouver Island and felt fortunate to call it home. He was happiest having his three boys at home, watching English Premier League soccer and doing his daily crossword. He took great pleasure and pride in watching all three boys succeed in school, sports and their careers. He loved the years he spent coaching their soccer teams and cheering on their hockey teams. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Doris Lemmon (Barking, Essex, England) and his father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Eileen Neal (Qualicum Beach, BC). The family would also like to pay special thanks to all the medical professionals whose expertise gave Howard the gift of a full life and enabled him to see his boys grow into adulthood. A special thank you to Drs. Kroeker, Pascoe, Mutch and Murray in Winnipeg, Drs. Williams, Novak and the team at Western Cardiology, Drs. Shung Lee and Young in Victoria and a special thank you to the amazing CCU staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. You are outstanding. In Nanaimo, the family would like to thank Drs. Booth, Baillie and the great doctors and staff in the NRGH Emergency, ICU and Palliative Care units. Last but certainly not least, our family GP Dr. Hugh Fletcher of Qualicum Beach. You have been on this journey with us. At Howard's request, his life will be celebrated privately by the family. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • When Howard arrived as the new Sales Promotion Manager for National Stores (formerly Northern Stores) he brought sunshine and fresh air to an old established organization. It was a new position and one would think an outsider from the big brother retail might ruffle some feathers but no. Howard had an amazing ability to make everyone feel comfortable and he fit in immediately. Everyone loved him. You could say Howard brought a lot to the party. He was without question the best person I ever had the pleasure to work with. He will always be with me in memory. Take care Howard. Sorry we couldn't get together one more time. • Howard was such a kind, considerate, and wise person who adored his immediate and extended and 'adopted' family. I will miss his quick wit, the fabulous stories he told of his family, the lovely bbqs he cooked for us, and the danishes he bought for breakfast. I am so glad he was part of my life, and will miss him, but he will always be in my heart. - Posted by: Christine McArdle ('Adopted' sister-in-law) on: Aug 23, 2013

  • Howard was a joy to work with. he brought a smile to every one who met him. it was Winnipeg's loss when he left the company and moved to BC but he was so looking forward to that move.
