Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLIFFORD CHARLES CRANSTON February 28, 1924 August 12, 2013 Cliff Cranston passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2013, beloved husband of Eunice Cranston, mother of Don (Nancy), Ken (Diane) and Cathy (John); grandfather of Jennifer (Sue), Trevor (Angela), Blair (Alexis), Meghan (Jamie), Leah (Michael), and Charlie; great-grandfather of Everett and Henry. Cliff was born and raised in Brandon, MB and was predeceased by his parents Robert and Euphemia Cranston and his 12 brothers and sisters, Boyne, Hewitt, Margaret, Edith, Gail, Carman, George, Clayton, Ilene, Ruth, Marion and Jack. After completing high school Dad joined the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served until late 1945. He then attended the University of Manitoba where he graduated with a degree in Agriculture in 1950. Dad worked in the Manitoba Department of Agriculture until 1982 where he was the Director Soils and Crops Branch, and then served as the Assistant Deputy Minister of Agriculture Farm and Rural Development Division, until his retirement in 1986. A highlight of Dad's career and the family's life together was when he took a leave of absence to work with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations based in Rome, Italy. His mandate was to work on the World Plan for Agriculture Development with an emphasis on third world countries. During Dad's professional career he was also a long standing Director of the Agricultural Institute of Canada, Manitoba Institute of Agrology and Canadian Seed Growers Association. Despite Dad's career accomplishments, his pride and joy was his family and his wife Eunice of 62 years. Mom predeceased Dad by nine days and we take comfort that Mom and Dad are now together. At our Father's request a private family service was held. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at Victoria General Hospital and Seine River Retirement Residence for the compassionate care they extended to our Father. To the family of Cliff & Eunice Cranston....We were shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Eunice & Cliff. We have known them long enough to know what fine people they were. Marj worked with Eunice in 1949 and Vern worked in Agriculture with Cliff. Don, Ken and Cathy - we are so very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing and such a short time from your Mom's death. A great loss for all of you at one time. Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. I have special memories of your parents and have thought about them often over the years.
