ARTHUR ALBERT WILKS 1950-2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and friend Arthur Wilks on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. Art was born March 4, 1950 in Winnipeg and attended school at Angus McKay, John Henderson and Miles Mac. He is predeceased by his parents Sydney and Esther Wilks and survived by his wife of 41 years Gay, his three sons Ryan (Heather), Chris (Ashlea) and Nick (Samantha). He is also survived by his brother Robert (Deanna) and his sister Helen (Robert) and nephews Jamie, Dan and David. Art was involved in the printing industry from an early age starting in the mail room at the Winnipeg Tribune working Saturdays and later becoming a pressman there. He then worked at Kingdon Printing, Web Graphics, and The Winnipeg Sun and worked for a period of time as a print consultant before moving to Prolific Graphics where he was currently employed. He loved hunting, motorcycles, muscle cars and snowmobiling and passed his enthusiasm for these to his sons. He especially loved boating and was happiest when taking friends and family for a cruise on Lake Winnipeg with his boat Misprint. He loved to spend time on his boat and with his friends from the Boundry Creek Marina. Most weekends he could be found there and on Thursday evenings at the R.M.Y.C. with his boating friends there. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him and by his loyal companion Diesel. A celebration of life will be held Monday, August 19 at 2:00 p.m at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). Condolences & Memories (13 entries)

  • We were so very lucky to have had Art for a friend and neighbour. I remember working with Art back in the 70's. When I moved out to Lockport 30 years ago, I couldn't believe that he was my neighbour and a true friend. He was a big burly man with one huge heart of gold. Our kids grew up together, and our hearts go out to you Gay and Ryan, Chris, and Nick. You will have all the wonderful memories that will live on with you and your family for many years to come. RIP Art and know that you will be truly missed. - Posted by: Wendy & Al Mainland (friends and neighbours) on: Sep 03, 2013
