Born to the late John Osborne ("Ozzie") and the late Jessie Eleanor ("Tink") Lawson in Ottawa on February 6, 1942 she is also predeceased by her sister Catherine Boyes. Mourning her loss are her four children Bruce Morrison (Lise); Deborah Morrison; Gillian Seymour (Tracy); and Jennifer DiMarco (Filippo); grandchildren Jessie Morrison (Marc Pinault); Thomas Morrison; Catherine Morrison; and Palmarino and Isabella DiMarco; cherished niece Ali Boyes, and her trusted canine companion Hadley. Also mourning her passing is a vast circle of family real and "decreed"- whom she touched with her humour, strength, boundless energy and generosity. Diana grew up in Ottawa, graduating as Head Girl from Elmwood School in 1959. She moved to Winnipeg with her young family in 1968, established a career in real estate, and quickly developed a reputation as a community leader because of her steadfast commitment to charitable causes, voluntary work and her long-standing involvement with the Liberal Party as a party president, federal candidate, and political organizer. She was an active member of Westminster United Church where she served as Chair of the Board of Directors during the 1990s. In 1999, she retired from active political life and returned home to Ottawa where she could keep a closer watch on the happenings on Parliament Hill and enjoy more time with family and friends at MacGregor Lake. A Celebration of Life will be held at Westminster United Church at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013 followed by a reception at the home of her daughter Deborah Morrison. While Diana wished only that you take a glass of your favourite libation to toast her, those wanting to make a donation to honour her memory are asked to consider the Westminster United Church, Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, Autism Ontario, Canada's History Society, and the Canadian War Museum's Operation Veteran.

We are so saddened to learn of Diana's death...a vibrant life cut too short. We have many wonderful memories of Diana and the Liberal Party way back in the good old days when the Liberals actually ran second in Roblin-Russell! A no nonsense woman always ready with sage advise. Our deepest condolences to Diana's family. Anna & Neil Stewart - Posted by: Anna 7 Neil Stewart ("Liberal friend") on: Sep 07, 2013

I remember Diana as an intense person full of life, fun, opinions, and love of challenge. She was helpful to me and to our family on a number of occasions, and I am really sorry to hear that everyone must go on without her. My sympathies to all her family. - Posted by: Lenore Berscheid (fellow traveller) on: Aug 21, 2013

The sad, sad news of Diana's death came as a shock. Just hours before dying in her sleep, Diana enjoyed an evening of "fun, life and laughter among good friends and family." That's how she would have wanted it: savouring every moment of life before departing it in style. She will always be remembered for her joie de vivre and service to community. She worked hard for the political party of her choice. She would have been an excellent member of parliament but that was not to be. However, she found other ways to serve her country: supporting charitable causes, performing voluntary work of all kinds and taking several leadership roles in the Liberal Party of Canada. She was one of the best campaign managers a party could wish for. I will always remember her caring nature, her laugh and her love of people. Those of us who had the privilege of knowing her have lost a very special friend and a great Canadian. She will be missed. May she rest in peace.
