Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTIN EDWARD GREENBERG 1917 - 2013 Martin passed away on Monday, August 14 2013 at the age of 96. He is survived by his children Andrea (Terry) Braunstein, and Joel Greenberg. He was grandfather to Lisa, Dave, Danny, Amy, Joelle, Esther and Amy, great- grandfather to Noah, Breanne, Ella, Sophie, Raya, Joshua and Finley, He was recently predeceased by his wife of 73 years Bess and earlier by his siblings Si, Zebe, Ben, Francis, Nell, Reva and Bernice. Martin grew up in Winnipeg and was educated at St. John's High School. After agricultural studies, he joined the family butter business in Beausejour, which he ran for many years with his brother Zebe. He was a keen sports fan and ten pin bowler and he ran the Recreation Bowling League for many years. He also devoted a considerable amount of his time working for B'nai B'rith. Following his retirement he was able to enjoy holidays with Bess in Florida and Hawaii as well as trips to England to visit his son's British family. Martin suffered from Alzheimer's disease for a number of years and the family would like to thank the staff at the Simkin Centre for their tender and loving care of the man they called Poppa'. A special thank you to Suzy who treated him with respect and dignity. Funeral services were held on August 16 2013 at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Alan Green. Pallbearers were Danny Braunstein, Amy Braunstein, Lorne Billinkoff, Eric Green, Alan Finkleman and David Wolch. Donations in Martin's name may be made to the Saul & Claribel Simkin Centre, Cancer Care or the charity of your choice.
