DONNE ALAN FLANAGAN Five years have passed since we lost you. In some ways it still seems like yesterday, but in other ways it seems like forever. Words cannot express how much we miss you. You are forever remembered, forever loved. Our memories of you forever cherished. - De, Callum, Kieran, Mom, Dad and Jill

I, too, was given a chance by Donne. I went on to become a lifelong journalist - inspired and given an opportunity because Donne allowed me to write for him and help with the Inner City Voice - out of that sketchy building at the end of the Salter Street Bridge. I still remember the passion he had for the story I did about cab drivers .. and I only wish I could have continued conversations with him years later. I had so much more to learn from him but so grateful I had the time I did to observe a great writer at work. thanks Donne. - Posted by: nadia (friend) on: Jun 13, 2020

To Donne's Family, My name is Lorraine Ashdown. I worked with Donne in Winnipeg 19 years ago at The Voice newspaper. This morning, as I was going through some old boxes and doing a fall purge, I pulled out some copies of The Voice from 1995. I thought of Donne and through the internet, I began to try to connect with him. I am so very sorry. I did not know he had passed away. I live in British Columbia now and I had lost touch with Donne. However, I never lost touch with his memory as he was the first editor to give me my own column and he was a wonderful, encouraging person to work with when I was a younger writer. I am sure you miss him every day. He was a special spirit with his lovely smile and his accepting, joyful heart. I shall light a candle for him today as I remember him with great affection. Sincerely, Lorraine - Posted by: Lorraine Ashdown (friend) on: Oct 19, 2013
