EDWARD MONNEY Peacefully, on August 22, 2013, with his family by his side, Edward Monney passed away at the age of 70. Edward was predeceased by his father Camille Monney. He is survived by his mother, Anna Enquist, his wife, Alice Bacon, his children, Larry (Tracy), Paul (Lisa), Patsy (Marcel), and his step-children Todd, Brent (Alana), and Lindsey (J.P.). He also leaves behind eight loving grandchildren, and four siblings, Irene (Bob), Marcel (Doris), Denise (Randy), and Carole (Mark). Ed was born and raised in St. Boniface and he retired at the age of 52 from CN Rail. Ed's passion was sports! One of the ways he most enjoyed his leisure time was by watching his grandchildren at their many sporting events. He also enjoyed weekend jaunts with Alice as well as curling, bowling and playing golf with family and friends. Ed loved stirring the pot at family dinners and enjoyed watching the reactions of family members. Dinners will be a little quieter without him there. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the caring and compassionate staff at the Health Science Center. A celebration of Edward's life will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at 11:00 at Mary Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive. Father Kevin Bettens will be presiding. "You took us as babies, showed us how to be kids, and taught us to be adults". Rest well Dad! In lieu of flowers, if so desired, a contribution can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or a special charity of your choice. VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM, (204) 284-7500.

  • Ed will be truly missed. Especially his light hearted chuckle and warm greeting when you visited their home. I bowled with Ed and Alice for many years. Our team was tight the most fun of the evening was just telling stories, and listening to one another's take on current events, and life in general. He treated my kids to little snacks when I would bring them to the club, and always asked them about Girl Guide Cookie sales when he saw them, greeting them talking to them in some way. He was a kind man and a considerate friend, gone way too soon. - Posted by: Kathy Wallmuth (Friend) on: Aug 28, 2013

  • Ed and I first met at a bowling alley in St. Boniface, when we were 13. (Ed was a pin boy). It was then that Ed introduced me to his family and friends. Back then, we enjoyed long summer days at the piscine. The Monney home was our gathering place to play cards, munch on burgers, listen to records on the old phonograph, and occasionally assist with the bottling of his father's wine. This friendship continued until the 60's when our lives then took us on various adventures. I returned to Winnipeg in the late 80's and we reconnected again through family and curling at the Pembina Curling Club. Ed was a great guy with a mischievous smile. He will be missed. My condolences to Ed's family and friends. - Posted by: Patricia Matte Lumley (Friend) on: Aug 27, 2013
