MARY ALICE FRIESEN (MCIVOR)
Born: Oct 05, 1936
Date of Passing: Aug 18, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ALICE FRIESEN (nee MCIVOR) October 5,1936 - August 18, 2013 It is with very heavy hearts we announce Mary's passing in Powell River, BC. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Jessie, her soul-mate Gary Foley as well as Bill Friesen, the father of her children. She leaves to mourn her children Lydia Richards, Lisa Friesen, Billy Friesen, Linda Friesen (Stacey), Laura Friesen (Doug) her "adopted son" Richard Shute (Darcy) and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves brothers Donald (Shirley) and Kenneth (Jolanta), nephews, nieces and many other family and friends. Mary was born in Selkirk, MB and lived in Winnipeg, where she and Bill raised their children. She relocated to Langley, BC and resided in Powell River until her passing. Mary was known for her quick wit and sense of humour which remained in place until her final days. She loved to spend time with her family and friends, always had a smile and a joke for everyone and was happiest when helping other people. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to: Richard and Darcy for their tireless love, care and compassion for Mary, especially during her illness. To her dear friend Ruby Allen, Bill and Pat Turner, Shelagh Brown, Don Blake and the rest of her extended family in BC who were always there for her. To the amazing team of doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers at the Powell River General Hospital. At Mary's request a private interment will take place at Little Britain Cemetery followed by a gathering of family and friends. She also requests that you tip a glass of your favourite beverage and toast to the good life shared with loved ones. If, instead of a gem or even a flower, we could cast the gift of a lovely thought into the heart of a friend, that would be giving as the angels give. G. MacDonald Goodbye Mom. We love you!

Grandma, I am happy that we were able to re-unite and for the time we had together. I will always remember the laughs we shared, and the talks we had over the phone, computer, or while sharing a cigarette. You will be greatly missed but always in our hearts. - Posted by: Joseph Smith (Grandson) on: Aug 27, 2013
