LYLE WILLIAM (BILL) HOKANSON Died August 17, 2013 at the age of 83 years in Winnipeg. Beloved son of Rudolph and Edith Hokanson. Loving father of John, Cliff, Warren and Mark. Cherished grandfather to Dallas, Troy, Kate and Jaclyn. Survived by his wife Janet (SEP). Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Stemming from humble beginnings, Bill was an extremely hard working man who developed his skills with Heath and Sherwood Drilling where he spent many years as manager of operations. Bill loved working in the field and enjoyed the camaraderie associated with other drillers and archeologists. He travelled the world extensively for work and met his wife of many years in Brazil. Bill was also a hydraulics expert and patented many inventions which revolutionized the drilling industry in Canada and around the world. Born in Saskatchewan, Bill had many siblings - Cliff, Hazel, Marina, Norman (all predeceased). His father was a carpenter born in Minnesota to Swedish immigrants. His father proudly served in both world wars. His mother was a school teacher. Bill had many amazing stories of his travels and adventures. In his later years Bill spent time with family and friends and he especially enjoyed playing cribbage with his good friend Elena and friends from the Legion Branch No.1. He will be greatly missed by us all. A private family and close friend gathering will be held at the home of his son Warren in Winnipeg, Sunday, September 1, 2013, 1:00 p.m.
